This is a senior level position with global responsibility for driving Continuous Improvement by designing and leading the Management System which includes Quality, Health + Safety + Environmental and Export Compliance for Future Materials while also growing and developing Engineering talent to innovate and solve problems across 14 locations.

Lead Quality (Develop/Implement Quality Strategy aligned with Company's 5yr Strategic Growth Plan)
  • Build Relationships in Supply Chain with Customer and Supplier Quality Engineering teams
  • Support Divisional Quality Assurance Team (Visit 14 Divisions)

Ensure Compliance
  • Teach and Audit HS&E (Health Safety & Environmental) in partnership with HR team and leveraging outside training materials. Develop and establish Safety Policies and Procedures to comply with local, state, OSHA (29 CFR 1910), EPA (40 CFR 122), DOT (49 CFR 177), UK and EU HSE Legislation/Directives
  • Ensure all SDS books, waste streams and permits are up to date and maintained
  • Handle Export Compliance (EAR)
  • Manage Certifications & Audits: AS9100, ITAR etc.

Drive Continuous Improvement (Promote culture of learning and problem solving)
  • Lead A3 + JDI (Just Do It) VoE (Voice of Employee) Program
  • Product Engineering: Organize Technical Product Expertise as needed to support business growth
  • Mentor Engineering Team (Automation & Innovation)
    • Standardize Processes: Create Dozuki Visual Work Instructions
    • Automate Processes to improve productivity
    • Guide Co-op Intern Program and Leadership Rotation Program
    • Assist Operations Leaders to implement new equipment
    • Mitigate Risk: Support Problem solving efforts across company and assist in identifying risk in new contract bidding process
    • Leverage technology and monitor latest industry trends

Management
  • Own budget for areas above: Travel, Expenditures, CapEx
  • Review and provide KPI status updates to Executive Leadership Team
  • Communication: Alert all hands as needed for Safety/Quality issues. Be primary face/voice to company for Quality, Safety & Continuous Improvement Engineering
  • Review Performance of Team Members and hire/train as needed

Work Experience/Education
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Industrial, Materials or Aerospace/Mechanical preferred)
  • Minimum 5 Years experience with APQP (Advanced Product Quality Planning)
  • Minimum 5 Years experience in safety critical industry (Aerospace, Automotive, Medical etc.)
  • Minimum 5 Years experience in leading/managing direct reports
  • Preferred but not required experience
    • Managing a Safety or Environmental Program
    • OSHA's Safety and Health Fundamentals Certificate Program (30 hour)
    • Experience with ISO14001 or ISO45001
    • Internal Audit experience

Competencies
  • Ability to engage cross-functional stakeholders to influence change
  • Ability to negotiate with Customers and Suppliers to improve supply chain
  • Fluent in use of Lean Tools: Kaizen, 5S, 8D, A3, Control Plan, Visual Work Instructions, Value Stream Map, 3 Legged 5 Why, Root Cause and Corrective Action
  • Risk Management (FMEA, ISO31000, etc.)
  • Familiarity with 29 CFR Part 1910 regulations (Occupational Safety and Health Standards)
  • Familiarity with Waste Stream management in the metals industry

50% travel required to 14 divisions globally
