Job Details

Anduril Industries is a defense technology company with a mission to transform U.S. and allied military capabilities with advanced technology. By bringing the expertise, technology, and business model of the 21st century's most innovative companies to the defense industry, Anduril is changing how military systems are designed, built and sold. Anduril's family of systems is powered by Lattice OS, an AI-powered operating system that turns thousands of data streams into a realtime, 3D command and control center. As the world enters an era of strategic competition, Anduril is committed to bringing cutting-edge autonomy, AI, computer vision, sensor fusion, and networking technology to the military in months, not years.

Anduril is seeking a Robotics Engineer to join the team at our Costa Mesa HQ. Here you will work on early stage R&D development for complex systems, including but not limited to autonomous navigation, networking, flight systems, computer vision, sensor fusion, motion planning, and motor control and tuning, . The role requires high ownership and autonomy to prove concept feasibility and build Anduril's earliest stage prototypes. The ideal candidate has experience taking robotic systems from the conceptual stage all the way to hardware implementation and real-world testing. This role offers the opportunity to make a significant impact on next-generation defense technology, working with state-of-the-art robotics and autonomous systems. WHAT YOU'LL DO
  • Apply robotics fundamentals and implement robotic systems in the earliest stage prototypes and concepts at Anduril
  • Write and maintain core libraries (frame transformations, targeting and guidance, motion deconfliction, object avoidance, etc.)
  • Design, evaluate, and implement sensor integrations leveraging machine learning and computer vision to meet operational or performance targets
  • Develop flight control, pathing, motion control, and guidance algorithms
  • Collaborate closely with hardware engineers throughout the product development lifecycle, providing timely feedback to influence and enhance final hardware designs
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues during field testing for rapid iteration
  • Stay current with emerging technologies and industry trends, recommending and implementing innovations to improve our products and processes
  • Execute rapid evaluation of engineering concepts in a wide range of fields
  • Design, implementation, and test of complex electro-mechanical systems
  • High level system ownership with large levels of professional autonomy
  • Travel to test sites, vendors, and demos as needed
  • Use first principles as a basis for every decision

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree in Robotics, Computer Science, or related field
  • 3+ years minimum of professional software development experience
  • 4+ years minimum of relevant experience in robotics integration, testing, and project management.
  • Strong proficiency in C++, with experience in Linux development environments
  • Experience in one or more of the following: motion planning, perception, localization, mapping, controls, and related system performance metrics.
  • Experience programming for embedded and physical devices
  • Demonstrated expertise in data structures, algorithms, concurrency, and code optimization
  • Hands-on experience working with and testing electrical and mechanical systems
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including hardware and manufacturing
  • Experience in an immersive technical project (collegiate project teams or professional settings)
  • Demonstrated leadership, ownership, and autonomy skills (collegiate project teams or professional settings)
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a U.S. TS clearance

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Advanced degree in engineering, robotics, computer science, or a related technical or management field.
  • Linux OS programming
  • Experience with NixOS
  • Python, Rust, and/or Go experience
  • Complex frame transformation problems, such as target localization or multi degree of freedom robotic arms
  • Experience with real-time operating systems and distributed computing
  • Familiarity with machine learning and AI applications in robotics
  • Knowledge of sensor fusion techniques and implementation
  • Understanding of aerodynamics and flight dynamics as applied to UAV systems
  • Experience with simulation environments for robotics testing and development
  • Experience in one or more of the following:
    • Object Detection, Object Tracking, Instance Segmentation, Semantic Segmentation, Semantic change Detection
  • Experience in one or more of the following:
    • Visual Odometry, SLAM, Multi-view Geometry, Structure from Motion, 3D Geometry, Discriminative Correlation Filters, Stereo, Neural 3D Reconstruction, RGB-D and LIDAR Sensor Fusion
  • Experience deploying models with TensorRT and ONNX
