About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Google Cloud Platform Architect (Level 5) to join our team as a full-time employee. The ideal candidate will be a local to San Francisco, CA or Dallas, TX, with a retail technology background, preferably with experience at Walmart or other large retailers. You will be responsible for leading Google Cloud Platform architecture, driving design decisions, and ensuring robust, scalable, and secure cloud solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and implement scalable, secure, and highly available solutions on Google Cloud Platform (Google Cloud Platform).

  • Provide architectural leadership in shaping strategic, technical, and operational direction for cloud solutions.

  • Work closely with engineering, infrastructure, DevOps, and business stakeholders to define and document cloud architecture.

  • Migrate and modernize legacy systems to Google Cloud Platform.

  • Define cloud best practices and ensure compliance with security and regulatory requirements.

  • Drive continuous improvement of cloud architecture and operational excellence.

  • Support CI/CD pipelines and Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform.

Qualifications

  • 15-18 years of IT experience with at least 4+ years in Google Cloud Platform architecture and design.

  • Strong understanding of cloud-native application development, networking, IAM, and DevOps practices.

  • Proven experience designing and implementing cloud solutions in large-scale enterprise environments.

  • Retail experience is mandatory; prior experience with Walmart is a big plus.

  • Expertise in containers (Kubernetes, GKE), BigQuery, Cloud Functions, and serverless architecture.

  • Proficiency in scripting languages like Python, Shell, or Go.

  • Google Cloud certifications (e.g., Professional Cloud Architect) preferred.

  • Strong communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally in agile environments.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with data pipelines, real-time analytics, or large-scale eCommerce systems.

  • Exposure to other cloud platforms (AWS or Azure) is a plus.

  • Familiarity with hybrid or multi-cloud environments.
