Role and Responsibilities

The client is seeking a senior Akamai Engineer, the candidates will be responsible for the design, implementation, and management of Akamai content delivery network (CDN) solutions, including Akamai Bot Manager and Akamai Account Protector, for the organization. The candidate will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure optimal performance, availability, security, bot mitigation, and account protection capabilities for web applications and content delivered through Akamai's platform. This role requires strong technical expertise in Akamai technologies, web infrastructure, networking principles, bot management, and account protection techniques.

 Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with internal teams to understand requirements and design scalable, high-performance content delivery solutions using Akamai's suite of products and services, including Akamai Bot Manager and Akamai Account Protector.
  • Configure and optimize Akamai CDN settings, including caching, routing, load balancing, security policies, and rules within Akamai Bot Manager and Akamai Account Protector, to ensure optimal performance, availability, and protection against malicious bot traffic and unauthorized account access.
  • Utilize Akamai Account Protector to implement measures that detect and prevent unauthorized access attempts, such as credential stuffing, brute force attacks, and account enumeration, across web applications and services.
  • Implement and manage Akamai Bot Manager rules and policies to identify, analyze, and mitigate various types of bot traffic, including scraping bots, automated attacks, and account takeover attempts.
  • Analyze and optimize web application performance through CDN optimization techniques, such as caching strategies, content compression, and content pre-fetching, while considering the impact of bot management measures.
  • Collaborate with security teams to implement robust security features and best practices within the Akamai platform, including DDoS protection, web application firewalls, and bot detection/prevention mechanisms.
  • Monitor CDN performance, bot traffic patterns, and security incidents, troubleshoot and resolve issues promptly, and provide technical support to internal teams and clients in relation to Akamai Bot Manager and CDN-related matters.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams, including developers, network engineers, security professionals, and business stakeholders, to ensure seamless integration of Akamai solutions.
  • Stay updated with industry trends: Stay informed about the latest industry trends and advancements in CDN technologies, bot detection/prevention techniques, and web security practices. Evaluate their potential impact on the organization's web infrastructure and delivery strategies.
  • Provide data-driven insights and recommendations to support strategic decision-making. Collaborate with management and cross-functional teams to identify opportunities, address challenges, and optimize business processes.
  • Clearly communicate complex findings to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Prepare comprehensive reports, presentations, and documentation to effectively convey insights and recommendations.

Qualifications:

  • 3-7 years’ relevant experience required.
  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field.
  • Strong technical expertise in Akamai technologies, including Akamai CDN, Akamai Bot Manager, Akamai Account Protector, Akamai Ion, and Akamai Kona Site Defender.
  • In-depth knowledge of web protocols, including HTTP, HTTPS, DNS, TCP/IP, and CDN-specific protocols like Edge Side Includes (ESI).
  • Proficiency in CDN configuration and management, including cache control, routing, load balancing, security policies, and rule creation within Akamai Bot Manager and Akamai Account Protector.
  • Experience in bot mitigation techniques, including the identification, analysis, and mitigation of malicious bot traffic using Akamai Bot Manager or similar bot management tools
