Compensation Overview
The annual base salary range provided for this position is a nationwide market range and represents a broad range of salaries for this role across the country. The actual salary for this position will be determined by a number of factors, including the scope, complexity and location of the role; the skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the candidate; and other conditions of employment. As part of our comprehensive compensation and benefits program, employees are also eligible for performance-based cash incentive awards.

What Is the Opportunity?
Travelers is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join our organization as we grow and transform our Technology landscape. Individual will complete advanced software end to end engineering tasks that span many parts of a system including designing, developing, analyzing, configuring, testing, debugging, troubleshooting, documenting, health monitoring/alerting, and implementing based on user or system specifications. Individual will also consult with users to determine hardware, software or system functional specifications, manage the effective use of resources, act as subject matter expert across multiple applications, systems and technologies, leverage technical and business knowledge to drive the planning and execution of complex initiatives, participate in the design/ development process, and provide technical leadership.
What Will You Do?
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of our generative AI practices and infrastructure.
  • Contribute towards our AI strategy performing analysis, design, development, and configuration functions (includes defining technical requirements) with a high degree of accuracy and speed, operating as an individual contributor to team goals.
  • Establish and educate on best practices for AI development and deployment, including evaluation strategies, and real-time monitoring.
  • Interface with business partners to develop prototypes which demonstrate business value.
  • Contribute to production application development in cross-functional teams.

What Will Our Ideal Candidate Have?
  • Expert-level proficiency in at least one major programming language (ex: Python, JavaScript, C#) and a willingness to learn others.
  • Strong React UI development skills for creating intuitive and responsive user interfaces
  • Practical experience with cloud platforms, particularly AWS architecture.
  • Understanding of Kubernetes concepts (nice-to-have)
  • Understanding of Terraform (nice-to-have)
  • Experience with generative AI technologies, including:
    • Working knowledge of generative AI models like Claude and GPT.
    • Experience implementing LLM applications using programming frameworks and AWS Bedrock services.
    • Understanding of prompt engineering techniques and best practices.
    • Familiarity with vector databases for semantic search applications.
    • Knowledge of responsible AI principles and implementing appropriate guardrails.
    • Ability to integrate AI capabilities into production applications.
    • Experience with RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation) architectures.
    • Knowledge of optimization techniques for cost-effective AI implementation.
    • Experience with common frameworks such as langchain, langgraph, bedrock agents. etc..


What is a Must Have?
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field, or its equivalent in work experience.
  • Three years of programming/development experience.
