JOB DESCRIPTION

ClarksTech is seeking an experienced Database Engineer to support large-scale database modernization and cloud migration initiatives. This role focuses on migrating enterprise databases Oracle, PostgreSQL, and MySQL to AWS, ensuring high availability, security, performance, and scalability. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on database engineering skills, deep AWS experience, and proven expertise in data migration and optimization for mission-critical systems.
Key Responsibilities
Database Migration & Cloud Transformation

Lead and execute database migrations from on-premises or legacy environments to AWS.
Perform schema conversion, data validation, and performance tuning during and after migration.
Use AWS migration tools such as AWS DMS, AWS SCT, and native database utilities.
Support heterogeneous and homogeneous migrations across Oracle, PostgreSQL, and MySQL.

AWS Database Engineering

Design, deploy, and manage AWS database services including Amazon RDS, Aurora, and EC2-hosted databases.
Implement backup, recovery, replication, and disaster recovery strategies using AWS best practices.
Ensure database scalability, high availability, and fault tolerance.

Performance, Security & Reliability

Monitor and tune database performance for high-throughput, low-latency applications.
Implement database security controls including encryption, IAM integration, auditing, and access management.
Ensure compliance with enterprise security and regulatory requirements.

Collaboration & Delivery

Work closely with application developers, cloud architects, DevOps, and infrastructure teams.
Support Agile delivery models and participate in design reviews and migration planning sessions.
Provide operational support during cutovers and post-migration stabilization.

Required Qualifications

7+ years of experience in database engineering or administration.
Strong hands-on experience with Oracle, PostgreSQL, and MySQL.Proven experience migrating databases to AWS.
Solid understanding of AWS architecture and cloud-native database services.
Expertise in performance tuning, indexing strategies, query optimization, and capacity planning.
Experience with backup, recovery, replication, and high-availability database designs.
Strong SQL and scripting skills (Shell, Python, or similar).

Preferred Qualifications

AWS certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Database Specialty, Solutions Architect).
Experience in financial services, payments, or high-volume transaction systems.
Familiarity with DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation).
Experience with database monitoring tools and automation frameworks.
