Position Summary
The Client is seeking a skilled Project Manager to support the Operations Activation Workstream for the Airo Program. This role involves managing moderately complex projects or contributing to larger program components. The successful candidate will use their technical expertise and project leadership experience to oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of projects that are critical to Amtrak's infrastructure and service improvements.

As a vital part of the project team, the Project Manager will ensure alignment between service levels, maintenance operations, and the new infrastructure being built to support Airo trainsets. This role will involve significant coordination with internal teams, external vendors, and stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage trainset requirements for new and retrofitted maintenance facilities for the Airo trainsets.
  • Develop facility activation checklists and oversee start-up processes.
  • Ensure service levels, operations, maintenance plans, and infrastructure are properly aligned.
  • Support the planning and execution of the Airo trainsets' service launch.
  • Coordinate internal resources and vendors for timely project delivery.
  • Assist in defining project scope and objectives in collaboration with stakeholders.
  • Secure resources, materials, and funding across departments.
  • Develop, maintain, and update project schedules with oversight from the Program Manager or Scheduler.
  • Identify and manage cross-functional dependencies and risks.
  • Administer project changes using Amtrak's Governance Change Control process.
  • Monitor project performance, identify issues, and ensure mitigation strategies are implemented.
  • Create and maintain required documentation in line with Amtrak's project management standards.
  • Recommend process improvements to increase efficiency and reduce costs.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in project management.
  • Strong understanding of project management principles and methodologies.
  • Proven ability to manage cross-departmental projects.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, MS Project).

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in the transportation or railroad industry.
  • Experience managing site and facility-related projects.
  • Background in industrial engineering or facility activation.
