Job Title: Software Engineer (Contingent Resource)

About the Role
As a Software Engineer in this contingent role, you will contribute to the design, development, and support of mainframe-based applications. You'll collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver scalable and reliable software solutions, supporting moderately complex initiatives within the technology domain. This role requires a strong foundation in COBOL and mainframe technologies, with opportunities to grow your expertise in enterprise systems and financial services.
Responsibilities
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of software solutions for low to moderately complex projects.
- Participate in the full software development lifecycle, including design, coding, testing, debugging, and documentation.
- Collaborate with internal teams and stakeholders to identify opportunities for improving system performance and reliability.
- Analyze technical challenges and recommend solutions aligned with business and compliance requirements.
- Support deployment activities, including upgrades and installations, ensuring minimal disruption to services.
- Apply knowledge of security and compliance standards in all development activities.
- Provide technical insights and documentation to peers and stakeholders.
Minimum Qualifications
- 4+ years of experience in software engineering or equivalent experience through work, education, military service, or training.
- Proficiency in COBOL programming and mainframe systems.
- Basic understanding of Assembler programming.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with EZTRIEVE and knowledge of VSAM types and definitions.
- Familiarity with CICS, JCL, PROC, Endeavor, CA7, and MQ.
- Prior experience in the banking or financial services industry.
- Exposure to tools and methodologies such as Data Space, ServiceNow, Agile, and FMMVS.
- Understanding of software testing practices and quality assurance processes.
