Job Details
Role: Mainframe Developer
Location: Jersey City, NJ - Onsite
Job Description: Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and enhance mainframe applications using COBOL, JCL, CICS, DB2, and related technologies.
- Develop and maintain CICS online programs, transactions, maps, BMS screens, and APIs.
- Analyze business requirements and convert them into scalable technical solutions.
- Perform debugging, troubleshooting, and performance optimization for CICS transactions.
- Support batch and online processing, including scheduling and workflow management.
- Conduct impact analysis, code reviews, and unit testing for new enhancements or fixes.
- Create and maintain application documentation, technical specifications, and system flows.
- Collaborate with QA, infrastructure, and business teams to support SIT, UAT, and production releases.
- Ensure mainframe security, availability, and compliance with organizational standards.
- Provide production support, resolve incidents, and perform root-cause analysis.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Strong hands-on experience with CICSincluding:
o Writing and debugging CICS COBOL programs
o BMS map creation and maintenance
o CICS commands (LINK, XCTL, START, READ/WRITE, TS/TD Queues)
o CEDF/CICS debugging tools
- Expertise in COBOL, JCL, VSAM, DB2, and mainframe file systems.
- Experience with IBM utilities such as FILE-AID, Expeditor, Abend-AID, SDSF, REXX.
- Strong understanding of transaction processing and mainframe performance tuning.
- Ability to analyze complex systems and provide efficient technical solutions.
- Working knowledge of Agile or Waterfall development methodologies.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with MQ, SOAP/REST Web Services, or API integration in CICS.
- Exposure to DevOps pipelines for mainframe (Endevor, Changeman, Git, Jenkins).
- Knowledge of RACF security, DB2 stored procedures, or IMS is a plus.
Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
