Job Overview:
The role is within the Counterparty Credit Risk Technology team, part of the broader Capital Markets Risk Technology (CMRT) group. CMRT collaborates with business partners to identify, measure, aggregate, and report firm-wide market risk. The counterparty credit technology team is specifically responsible for calculating various exposure metrics, as well as monitoring and reporting limit overages for counterparty credit.

Responsibilities:
  • Consult on complex initiatives with broad impact and large-scale planning for Software Engineering.
  • Review and analyze complex, multi-faceted, larger-scale, or longer-term Software Engineering challenges.
  • Contribute to the resolution of complex and multi-faceted situations requiring a solid understanding of policies, procedures, and compliance requirements.
  • Strategically collaborate and consult with client personnel.
  • Develop software for various risk calculation processes as an individual contributor.
  • Work directly with business and technology partners to understand requirements.
  • Create functional specifications from business specifications.
  • Design solutions that integrate well into existing architecture.
  • Write high-quality Java code using object-oriented principles and design patterns.
  • Create or modify SQL Server database objects (tables, views, stored procedures, etc.).
  • Perform thorough unit testing and document development activities.
  • Analyze complex problems requiring a solid grasp of both computing and business/risk domains.
  • Work with large data sets, ensuring computational efficiency, parallelism, and scalability.
  • Ensure quality, maintainability, and extensibility for supported systems and risk applications.
  • Participate in Agile team activities, including daily scrum meetings and sprint planning sessions.

Qualifications:
  • 5+ years of Software Engineering experience or equivalent demonstrated through work, consulting, training, military experience, or education.
  • Proficiency in full-stack development, including Core Java and Angular or React.
  • Advanced SQL query skills.
  • Preferred experience with Big Data technologies such as Iceberg, Spark, or Hadoop.
  • Familiarity with capital markets and stress testing of risk simulation platforms is a plus.
  • Strong coding skills and ability to work on maintenance and redesign of applications.
  • Experience with Agile methodologies and tools like Jira.
