Job Overview:
A large financial services client is seeking an experienced Principal Network Engineer to support the Network Core and Site Engineering (NCSE) team. This team is responsible for the architecture, engineering, deployment, and support of the client's global network. The role includes working on Campus LAN/WAN for U.S. regional campuses, international campuses, Investor centers, and WAN backbone, as well as Data Center networks, including overlay and underlay fabrics, interconnects, and colocation network infrastructure supporting cloud connectivity. The Principal Network Engineer will focus on designing, engineering, and implementing datacenter and colocation core network routing and switching with an emphasis on stability, automation, and innovation.

Job Overview:

Responsibilities:
- Design, engineer, and implement datacenter and colocation core network routing and switching.
- Support and operate VXLAN overlay and underlay network environments across multiple platforms.
- Collaborate with Enterprise Infrastructure teams on projects, including new network hardware implementation and upgrades.
- Perform code certification and ensure network security through tactical change management.
- Provide operational support and participate in on-call rotations for troubleshooting and issue resolution.
- Document complex technologies and topologies using tools like Visio.
- Implement code upgrades and hotfixes from vendors.
- Leverage infrastructure automation and scripting languages (e.g., bash, Python, Ansible) to enhance network operations.
- Utilize network observability and monitoring systems for proactive issue identification.
Qualifications:
- Extensive experience in network engineering, troubleshooting, and supporting large-scale enterprise infrastructure.
- Expert knowledge of HPE and Cisco networking platforms.
- Proficiency in routing protocols such as BGP, OSPF, VRF, and VPNs.
- Strong understanding of switched protocols like PVST, RPVST, HSRP/VRRP.
- Experience with monitoring protocols such as SNMP, Syslog, and Telemetry.
- Datacenter design and support experience, including overlay technologies like VXLAN.
- Hands-on experience with EVPN VXLAN configuration and troubleshooting.
- Knowledge of common network services (DNS, DHCP, HTTP, SSH).
- Familiarity with scripting languages and interacting with REST APIs.
- Focused curiosity, logical mindset, and strong communication skills (listening, speaking, writing, presenting).
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science/Network Engineering or 5+ years of related experience.
- Preferred certifications: Cisco CCNA, CCNP, CCIE, or equivalent.
