Role Description

Arcadis is seeking a motivated Instrumentation & Controls (I&C) Intern to join our Water Business Line in Dallas, Texas. This internship presents an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in I&C, automation system design, and SCADA integration by supporting a variety of projects for environmental remediation, industrial, and municipal water and wastewater systems.

Role Accountabilities

As an Instrumentation & Controls (I&C) Intern at Arcadis, you will work under the guidance of experienced engineers to gain practical experience supporting a variety of I&C and SCADA projects. Your responsibilities will include assisting with the preparation of design and construction documents, collaborating with multidisciplinary engineering teams, and helping to develop technical memoranda, design criteria, and Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs). You will contribute to the creation of SCADA system architecture and network diagrams, control schematics, and project documentation. The role may also involve participating in field visits to client sites and other Arcadis offices, assisting with basic testing and startup of I&C and SCADA systems, and gaining exposure to PLC and HMI configuration and programming activities. Throughout your internship, you will build foundational skills in instrumentation and controls while working on impactful water and wastewater projects.

Required:
  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Chemical, Environmental Engineering, or a closely related field.

  • Willingness to travel locally (up to 25%) and possess a valid driver's license.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.

Preferred:
  • Coursework or familiarity with AutoCAD or Revit.
  • Exposure to instrumentation and controls for process and electromechanical equipment.
  • Interest in IT, industrial networks, or SCADA networks.
