Your Career

If you're passionate about bringing multiple technologies together to solve real-world business challenges, you'll be a great fit as an Sr Staff IT Software Engineer, SAP ABAP on the Enterprise Applications team at Palo Alto Networks.

In this role, you'll collaborate closely with Business Systems Analysts and architects to understand business requirements, define technical solutions, create detailed technical specifications, and implement those solutions-primarily focused on SAP S/4HANA.

We're looking for an Sr Staff IT Software Engineer, SAP ABAP to lead the design and development of our next-generation Sales and Distribution, Material Management, Hardware Shipping, Subscription Billing, Record to Report (R2R), Revenue, and Customer Master modules. You'll help drive various initiatives across these domains while owning the SAP Order to Cash and Record to Report processes, as well as integrations with partners and SaaS systems that support our broader business functions.

As we continue to transform our software delivery model to be more agile, you'll bring a collaborative, customer-focused approach-working across cross-functional teams, BSAs, and engineers to align on clear, strategic solutions.

Your Impact
  • Own and drive the technical design of Palo Alto Networks' next-generation On-Prem, Hardware, and SaaS business models-ensuring scalability, performance, and alignment with industry best practices
  • Lead the design and development process with a focus on engineering efficiency and continuous product delivery
  • Design and implement RICEFW objects to ensure production readiness across Order to Cash (O2C), Material Management (MM), Record to Report (R2R), Revenue, and custom integration areas
  • Deliver solutions using SAP standard APIs, import programs, or custom interfaces-including BAPI, BADI, custom extensions, and workflow-leveraging both real-time and batch processing based on transaction volume
  • Develop and support integrations using modern cloud technologies, including B2B APIs and EDI solutions
  • Implement process improvements that streamline operations, eliminate redundancies, and enhance the internal user experience
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into scalable technical solutions

Maintenance and Support
  • Proactively monitor system performance and resolve issues to minimize downtime and user impact
  • Conduct regular audits of data quality and integrity, implementing corrective actions as needed
  • Provide ongoing support and user training to ensure effective adoption and utilization of SAP solutions

Best Practices and Documentation
  • Define and uphold best practices for SAP development, configuration, and deployment
  • Maintain thorough and up-to-date documentation on system configurations, processes, and technical procedures

Collaboration and Leadership
  • Partner with cross-functional teams-including IT, Engineering, and Business-to align SAP capabilities with organizational goals
  • Mentor junior SAP engineers and provide technical leadership on complex projects

Qualifications

Your Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (BE/B.Tech) or an equivalent technical discipline is required; equivalent military experience is also welcome
  • 8+ years of overall experience in SAP S/4HANA, with strong programming expertise in ABAP, Fiori (UI5), OData Services, SQL, and Java; Python is a plus
  • Hands-on experience delivering technical solutions in SAP SD and SAP FI modules, with a solid understanding of Order to Cash (O2C) and Record to Report (R2R) processes
  • Proven ability to design and build high-performance, scalable, and resilient distributed systems
  • Experience working in complex, multi-stack integration environments using tools such as SnapLogic, SAP PI, and REST APIs
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams across global locations

Technical Skills
  • Minimum of 6+ years developing and maintaining scalable systems on the SAP S/4HANA platform
  • 5-8 years of experience with enterprise software development, SDLC, and Agile methodologies
  • End-to-end project experience across O2C, R2R, Revenue processes, and third-party integration systems
  • Strong understanding of system architecture and product design principles
  • Ability to craft creative technical solutions to solve complex problems
  • Self-motivated, quality-driven, and customer-focused mindset
  • Proven ability to attract, retain, and lead top engineering talent
  • Experience delivering high-scale, enterprise-grade solutions
  • Hands-on expertise with SAP methodologies including ASAP and SOLMAN-based deployments, as well as SAP Best Practices

Certifications
  • SAP Certified Technical Specialist (preferred)
  • Additional SAP certifications are a plus

Compensation Disclosure

The compensation offered for this position will depend on qualifications, experience, and work location. For candidates who receive an offer at the posted level, the starting base salary (for non-sales roles) or base salary + commission target (for sales/commissioned roles) is expected to be between $0 - $0/YR.
