Role: Content Writer

Location : Philadelphia, PA (Onsite)

Mode: Long term Contract

Rate : $40/hr on C2C

Job Description :

The Content Writer supports the redesign of Phila.gov by migrating content from the legacy website to a new CMS. The role focuses on auditing, rewriting, and organizing web content to ensure it is accurate, accessible, and easy for the public to understand. The Content Writer works with City teams to ensure content meets Philadelphia s digital standards, voice, and commitment to equity and inclusion.

Key Responsibilities

  • Audit and migrate content from the legacy Phila.gov site to the new CMS.
  • Rewrite and organize content for clarity, accuracy, and usability.
  • Translate complex city programs and services into plain, user-friendly language.
  • Ensure content meets accessibility and city digital standards.
  • Collaborate with departments, designers, and developers to validate content before launch.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Experience writing or editing web content.
  • Familiarity with CMS platforms and digital publishing tools.
  • Basic knowledge of accessibility and plain language principles.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with government or public-sector websites.
  • Knowledge of WCAG accessibility guidelines.
  • Experience working with cross-functional digital teams.
