Test Engineer - Component to Vehicle-Level Testing

Objective: Plan, manually execute, and analyze results from unstructured and structured testing activities across component, subsystem, and full vehicle levels.

Key Responsibilities & Tasks:
  • Collaborating with development teams to understand functional requirements, test requirements, and program objectives.
  • Developing detailed test plans and procedures for both structured (e.g., DVP&R, validation matrix) and unstructured (e.g., exploratory, corner case) testing.
  • Setting up test environments, including connecting components, instruments, and data acquisition systems.
  • Executing test cases according to plan.
  • Monitoring test execution and identifying anomalies or failures.
  • Collecting, processing, and analyzing test data.
  • Documenting test results, observations, and identified issues (bug reporting).
  • Troubleshooting test setup or DUT (Device Under Test) issues during execution.
  • Providing regular updates on test progress and findings, including reporting and escalating bugs and blockers to programs.
  • Contributing to test automation efforts where applicable (e.g. Python).

Required Skills & Experience:
  • Proven experience in test planning and execution for automotive components/systems, IoT, consumer electronics, etc.
  • Experience with both structured validation methodologies and more exploratory/unstructured testing approaches.
  • Proficiency with relevant test equipment and tools (e.g., data loggers, diagnostic tools, logic analyzers, measurement instruments - e.g. dSpace, Vector tools, Python scripting for tests).
  • Ability to analyze complex data sets and draw meaningful conclusions.
  • Strong independent problem-solving and debugging skills.
  • Excellent documentation and communication skills.
  • Experience with bug tracking systems (e.g., Jira, TestRail).
  • Familiarity with CAN, LIN, Ethernet, UDS, SPI, I2C is beneficial.
  • Experience testing at different levels (component, subsystem, system, vehicle) is highly desirable.
