Our client is a government agency requiring specialized storage administration expertise to support critical infrastructure systems. They are implementing advanced IPv6 networking capabilities across their storage environment to ensure optimal performance, security, and availability of storage resources that support essential government operations and services.

Job Description
As a Storage IPv6 Administrator, you will be responsible for the administration, maintenance, and support of storage systems within an IPv6-enabled network environment. This role involves ensuring optimal performance, security, and availability of storage resources, as well as managing IPv6 configurations and addressing issues related to both storage systems and IPv6 networks.
Your daily activities will focus on storage system configuration and management, including SAN, NAS, and Direct Attached Storage systems. You'll implement and manage backup solutions, monitor storage performance to identify and resolve bottlenecks, and configure storage technologies to communicate over IPv6 in addition to IPv4.
The ideal candidate brings extensive storage systems experience with the ability to adapt traditional storage administration to IPv6-enabled environments, ensuring seamless integration and optimal performance across both IPv4 and IPv6 networks.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Set up and configure storage systems, including SAN, NAS, and Direct Attached Storage.
  • Implement and manage backup solutions to ensure data is regularly backed up and recoverable.
  • Monitor storage performance to identify and resolve bottlenecks and performance issues.
  • Configure storage technologies to communicate over IPv6 in addition to IPv4.
  • Administer, maintain, and support storage systems within IPv6-enabled network environments.
  • Monitor storage capacity, health, and performance metrics to ensure optimal operation.
  • Perform regular backups and disaster recovery procedures.
  • Ensure high availability and performance of storage management systems.
  • Troubleshoot storage and network connectivity issues in IPv6 environments.
  • Maintain documentation of storage configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting guides.
  • Collaborate with network administrators on IPv6 implementation and optimization.
  • Implement security best practices for storage systems in IPv6 networks.

Required Experience/Skills
  • Minimum 5 years of related experience providing storage solutions engineering support.
  • Experience with storage management, administration and maintenance of storage systems (e.g., SAN, NAS).
  • Proven ability to ensure high availability and performance of storage systems.
  • Ability to monitor storage capacity, health, and performance metrics effectively.
  • Ability to perform regular backups and disaster recovery procedures.
  • Experience setting up and configuring storage systems including SAN, NAS, and Direct Attached Storage.
  • Knowledge of implementing and managing backup solutions.
  • Experience monitoring storage performance and identifying/resolving bottlenecks.
  • Ability to configure storage technologies to communicate over IPv6 in addition to IPv4.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to obtain public trust clearance.

Nice-to-Haves
  • Strong knowledge of IPv6 networking, addressing, routing, and subnetting.
  • IPv6 network design and troubleshooting background.
  • Experience with enterprise storage vendors and solutions.
  • Knowledge of storage virtualization technologies.
  • Experience with cloud storage integration.
  • Disaster recovery planning and implementation experience.
  • Storage security and compliance experience.

Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field preferred.
  • Relevant certifications in storage technologies (e.g., EMC, NetApp, HPE) are a plus.
