Position Purpose:
The Internet/Web Architect will serve as the lead technical resource responsible for designing and managing complex web architectures that support enterprise-wide digital initiatives. The role involves analyzing business requirements, leading large-scale digital transformation projects, and ensuring seamless integration of cloud, SaaS, and legacy systems.
Education Requirements:
Bachelor s or Master s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field from an accredited college or university.
OR a minimum of four (4) years of equivalent work experience may be substituted for formal education on a year-for-year basis.
Scope of Work / Job Responsibilities:
Gather and translate business requirements into web architecture designs to meet strategic objectives.
Plan, design, and develop Internet/Intranet/Extranet solutions, either individually or in collaboration with project teams.
Document design decisions, development assumptions, system objects, and performance metrics per organizational standards.
Design scalable, secure, and maintainable web architectures supporting diverse technology stacks.
Minimize client/server application issues through effective web server architecture design and management.
Serve as the primary technical liaison for web architecture projects, providing guidance to development teams and leadership.
Create architecture diagrams, transition roadmaps, and system interface designs to support modernization initiatives.
Conduct vendor assessments and manage third-party solution integrations.
Mentor and coach junior technical staff, ensuring consistency in design and implementation.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including QA, product owners, and business analysts.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
Experience leading multiple projects as a technical lead or subject matter expert.
Proven ability to manage projects of medium to high complexity across various technical and business domains.
Experience mentoring and coaching technical teams.
Strong verbal and written communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences.
Preferred Skills & Experience:
Experience leading large-scale digital transformation initiatives involving legacy system replacement.
Solution design in hybrid environments (on-premises, cloud, SaaS/COTS integration).
Strong knowledge of Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) methodologies and Waterfall project management.
Expertise in modern web technologies, such as:
JavaScript frameworks (React, Angular, Vue)
Node.js, .NET, or Java
HTML/CSS, REST APIs
Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and their architectural patterns.
Deep understanding of data modeling, databases, and system interoperability.
Experience with application rationalization and reducing technical debt.
Strong skills in creating target state architectures and transition roadmaps.
Ability to evaluate and integrate SaaS/COTS solutions into enterprise ecosystems.
Proficient in collaborating with cross-functional teams and presenting architectural decisions to stakeholders.
Vendor management and third-party solution evaluation experience.
Communication Proficiency:
Oral Communication: Strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills.
Written Communication: Ability to produce clear, concise technical documentation and reports.
Additional Requirements:
Successful candidates must complete the Department s Security Awareness Training within 30 days of hire.
