Job Details

Title: Senior Linux Administrator

Location: Jackson, MS

Work Mode: Hybrid 3 day a week to local office

Full-Time

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead, design, implement, and maintain enterprise Linux environments (Solaris, Debian, RHEL, Ubuntu).
  • Own architecture decisions for high availability, scalability, and performance.
  • Monitor systems and perform performance tuning and capacity planning.
  • Lead troubleshooting and root cause analysis for complex system and production issues, including service failures.
  • Manage OS patching, upgrades, lifecycle, and package management.
  • Implement Linux security hardening, access controls, and compliance standards (including SELinux).
  • Manage Linux storage including LVM, file systems, multipathing, and performance tuning.
  • Design and maintain automation using scripting and configuration management tools.
  • Support Linux workloads in cloud and hybrid environments (AWS).
  • Support Linux systems in VMware environments, including backup and disaster recovery.
  • Provide OS-level support for container platforms.
  • Collaborate with network teams on Linux connectivity, VLANs and bonding.
  • Mentor junior administrators and act as the escalation point for Linux issues.
  • Participate in incident, change, and problem management using ServiceNow or similar tools.
  • Maintain system documentation, standards, and operational runbooks.

Required Skills:

  • Minimum 8+ years of hands-on Linux system administration experience.
  • Expert knowledge of Linux internals, system performance tuning, troubleshooting, and package management.
  • Strong experience with Linux storage management (LVM, file systems).
  • Strong experience with shell scripting and automation (Bash, Python).
  • Advanced experience with configuration management tools (Ansible, Puppet, Chef).
  • Strong understanding of Linux security, hardening, and compliance best practices.
  • Experience supporting Linux systems on VMware platforms (vSphere, DRS, HA).
  • Hands-on experience supporting Linux systems in AWS or other cloud platforms.
  • Experience managing container environments (Docker, Kubernetes) from an OS perspective.
  • Solid understanding of networking concepts including switches, firewalls, VPNs, and monitoring tools.
  • Familiarity with ITSM tools such as ServiceNow for incident, change, and problem management.
  • Experience supporting high-availability and production-critical environments.
  • Ability to lead technical initiatives and mentor team members.
