Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI)
Location: Glendale, Arizona
Grades: K 8
Key Responsibilities
Provide direct and consultative instruction to students with visual impairments.
Adapt classroom materials and use assistive technology to support learning.
Teach students skills in Braille, orientation & mobility, daily living, and adaptive tools.
Collaborate with general and special education teachers to ensure inclusion in academic settings.
Participate in IEP development and monitor student progress toward goals.
Provide resources and training for staff and families to better support students.
Promote independence, confidence, and advocacy skills in every learner.
Qualifications
Bachelor s or Master s degree in Special Education or related field.
Arizona Teaching Certification with endorsement in Visual Impairments (or eligibility to obtain).
Knowledge of Braille, assistive technology, and adaptive instructional strategies.
Experience working with children in grades K 8 preferred.
Strong collaboration, problem-solving, and communication skills.
