The Senior Programming Engineer will work alongside the Lead Programming Engineer to lead, mentor, and grow a team of Programming Engineers. This role is responsible for developing and maintaining a database of control programs that make up the Building Automation System (BAS) for large, complex facilities.
You'll have a direct impact on team development, ensuring engineers have the tools and support needed for success. This position collaborates closely with sales, project management, design engineering, and field teams to ensure smooth project delivery and system performance.
Key Responsibilities
For large, complex projects:
Develop control system programs that meet project scope, specifications, and performance requirements.
Create intuitive and cohesive system graphics that enhance user experience.
Delegate programming and testing tasks based on experience level and project needs.
Perform QA/QC reviews of programs and graphics to ensure accuracy and consistency.
Monitor project progress and assist as needed to ensure deadlines are met.
Train and mentor junior engineers, supporting their professional growth.
Facilitate communication between field and engineering teams to resolve technical questions.
Develop and improve internal engineering standards and best practices.
Execute BAS projects in accordance with design documents, scope, and schedules.
Support system startup, checkout, and commissioning activities.
Conduct owner training on BAS operation and capabilities.
Update and maintain as-built documentation for completed projects.
Education & Experience
Required: BS in Mechanical, Electrical, or Aerospace Engineering
Preferred: 3-5+ years of experience in HVAC, Building Controls, or Construction environments
Technical Skills
Strong understanding of HVAC systems and their integration with control systems
Advanced knowledge of control system programming principles
Ability to interpret mechanical plans, control schematics, and specifications
Experience with Automated Logic, TCP/IP networking, and communication protocols
Proficiency in technical writing and documentation
Familiarity with email, web, and database server configuration a plus
Knowledge of function block programming and BAS graphics design tools
