Job Description
ALTA IT Services is seeking a Senior Datadog Administrator with strong AWS expertise to support a leading health insurance client. This role requires a hands-on expert in Datadog configuration, monitoring, cloud observability, and incident response automation in AWS environments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee the deployment, monitoring, and optimization of AWS resources (EC2, RDS, Lambda, EKS/ECS, S3, etc.) following cloud best practices.
  • Design and implement comprehensive observability solutions using Datadog dashboards, alerts, custom metrics, logs, and synthetic monitoring.
  • Define and enforce monitoring and alerting standards that support high availability and performance.
  • Guide cross-functional teams to integrate Datadog into CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure provisioning processes.
  • Contribute to and enforce Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation.
  • Lead root cause analysis and remediation efforts for high-severity incidents using monitoring and logging data.
  • Provide mentorship on monitoring, automation, and operational excellence in a hybrid cloud environment.
  • Drive continuous improvements in observability, including implementation of SLOs/SLIs, anomaly detection, and service performance analysis.


Required Skills & Qualifications
  • 5+ years of experience working with AWS cloud services (EC2, Lambda, ECS, RDS, etc.).
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience with Datadog, including creating dashboards, managing integrations, installation, configuration, and defining custom metrics.
  • Must be able to set up Data Dog for on-prem and AWS platform
  • Demonstrated experience in cloud operations, site reliability engineering (SRE), or DevOps roles.
  • Strong scripting and automation skills (e.g., Python, Bash).
  • Solid understanding of distributed systems, networking, and cloud security.
  • Proven experience driving observability initiatives and leading technical teams or projects.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, or a related discipline (or equivalent experience).


Preferred Skills (Nice to Have)
  • Healthcare experience
  • AWS certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect, DevOps Engineer).
  • Experience integrating Datadog with ServiceNow, including incident management workflows, event management, and CMDB integration.
  • ServiceNow certifications or experience with ServiceNow ITOM modules (Discovery, Event Management, CMDB).
