Field Service Technician - Job Summary

This role involves traveling to customer sites to install, maintain, and repair industrial equipment-particularly battery systems and related machinery. The technician ensures optimal equipment performance, provides technical support, and acts as a key liaison between the company and its customers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Install, repair, and perform preventative maintenance on customer equipment
  • Replace defective parts and reassemble equipment to full functionality
  • Provide on-site troubleshooting and technical assistance
  • Maintain accurate service records and reports (e.g., expenses, maintenance logs)
  • Train team members and customers on safe equipment operation
  • Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and quality standards (OSHA, DOT Hazmat, ISO9000)
  • Operate forklifts and material handling equipment per OSHA guidelines
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment
  • Function independently with minimal supervision
  • Represent the company professionally and ensure high customer satisfaction

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Certificate or diploma in Mechanical, Electrical, or Electronic Engineering (or related field)
  • Basic understanding of electrical systems and schematics
  • Proficient in using test equipment and diagnostic tools
  • Strong math skills (fractions, decimals, unit conversions)
  • Hands-on experience in electrical or mechanical repair
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Additional Information

  • Willingness to travel overnight and be on-call
  • Ability to operate a forklift
  • Comfortable working in warehouse/plant environments with varying conditions
  • Physically capable of lifting up to 50 lbs, standing for long periods, and performing repetitive physical tasks (bending, kneeling, etc.)
  • Must be able to differentiate colors (important for wiring and diagnostics)
  • Commitment to wearing PPE and following safety protocols

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Ashburn, VA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $23.00/hr.
