Leidos National Security Sector's Mission Solutions Business Area is seeking a Chief Engineer for a program which is based at a government facility in Reston, VA. The program's primary focus is reverse engineering Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD) related facilities and creating 3D digital twins and simulations. The successful candidate will lead a large team interdisciplinary of engineers in a fast-paced, high-energy environment.

As Chief Engineer you will play a key role in deploying and managing digital twin solutions to optimize infrastructure, operations, and project lifecycle management. You'll utilize your expertise in integrating digital twin technologies with existing systems, ensuring seamless implementation, and delivering actionable insights through advanced data visualization and simulation. You will:
  • Lead the implementation of digital twin technologies for infrastructure, building systems, and other projects,
  • Create and edit project documents to include drawings, specifications (editing and checking) and support documents (basis of design),
  • Perform engineering calculations using full suite of software tools,
  • Utilize professional tools for developing digital twin and 3D simulation scenes,
  • Integrate digital twin systems with Building Information Modeling (BIM), Geographic Information Systems (GIS), and other relevant platforms,
  • Design and deploy digital twin frameworks that integrate 3D models, IoT data, and other digital assets,
  • Perform simulations, scenario testing, and predictive analytics using digital twin tools to improve decision-making and project outcomes.

Required Security Clearance:
  • Active TS/SCI with polygraph, or TS/SCI with the ability to successfully complete polygraph level clearance.

Required Experience, Skills, and Education:
  • Active TS/SCI with polygraph, or TS/SCI with the ability to successfully complete polygraph level clearance.
  • Master's degree in an engineering discipline (mechanical, electrical, civil, structural, plumbing or controls) and 15+ years of prior relevant experience or Doctorate degree in one of the same engineering disciplines with 13+ years of prior relevant experience. Prior relevant experience should be multi-disciplinary and include both technical and personnel management aspects.
  • Experience in developing digital twin or 3D simulation networks.
  • 5+ years of experience working in the Defense and/or Intelligence community.
  • Demonstrated experience communicating with personnel and stakeholders at all levels of seniority and technical competence.

Desired Experience, Skills, and Education:
  • Working knowledge of mechanical, electrical and life-safety systems and their controls found in larger commercial, government, or industrial facilities.
  • Experience in engineering and system of systems modeling and simulation.
  • Working knowledge of protective engineering or physical force protection measures.
  • Experience with the application of Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning to engineering problems.
  • Experience integrating engineering solutions with software development.
  • Facility planning experience.
  • Graduate Certificate in AI Engineering - Digital Twins & Analytics.
  • Associated General Contractors of America (AGC) Certificate of Management - Building Information Modeling (CM-BIM)
