Job Description:
Position: Senior Systems Engineer (2)
Location: Charlotte, NC
Onsite 4x/week
Contract Length: 12+ months
Top Requirements:
1. 7+ years of experience in systems engineering, infrastructure analysis, or application support
a. Windows/Linux engineer background
b. Understanding of what it takes to build an application (authentication, data storage, data movement, data protection, etc.)
c. Should understand virtualization, load balancing, network switches, Active Directory, firewalls, etc.
2. Strong understanding of enterprise IT components (AD, DNS, IAM, networking, storage)
3. Experience with audit processes, disaster recovery planning, or application dependency mapping
4. Analytical mindset with a passion for problem-solving and reverse engineering
Day to Day Responsibilities/project specifics: We are seeking a versatile and forward-thinking Systems Engineer to join our Infrastructure & Resilience team. This role is designed for someone who thrives in dynamic environments, enjoys reverse-engineering complex systems, and aspires to become an enterprise architect. Initially focused on audit support, this engineer will evolve into key contributors across technical analysis, recovery planning, and ecosystem architecture.
Contribute to audit initiatives by analyzing protected applications and identifying critical dependencies.
Assist the audit team in understanding technical components such as Active Directory, DNS, service accounts, and credential storage.
Develop reusable audit questionnaires to standardize future assessments.
Identify gaps in documentation and collaborate on remediation plans.
Conduct deep dives into application architectures to understand data flows, operational dependencies, and recovery priorities.
Determine the minimum viable components required to restore functionality after a cyberattack or outage.
Reverse-engineer applications to support rebuild efforts and resilience planning.
Technical Versatility & Collaboration
Contribute to any technical tasks required across the infrastructure and security landscape.
Work closely with application teams, business analysts, and security personnel to ensure cohesive recovery and protection strategies.
Develop a holistic view of the IT ecosystem, identifying how systems interconnect and impact one another.
Build foundational knowledge toward an architectural role, focusing on scalability, resilience, and integration.
