Role Summary

MetaPhase is seeking a System Administrator with3 + years of experience to support government applications by securing, sustaining, and improving the underlying systems in a cloud environment. This role involved a combination of traditional server administration and forward-leaning DevOps practices.

What You Will Be Doing

  • Ensur e security vulnerabilities are mitigated in a timely fashion .


  • Maintai n automated processes and scheduled tasks.


  • Enable monitoring and logging for system observability and compliance.


  • I mprov e system performance and proactively maximize system availability .


  • Document procedures and configurations.


  • Establish and continually improv e CI/CD pipelines to automate security scanning and testing .


  • Work with develop ers to improve the developer experience and instill DevOps values and principles .


  • Share responsibility with the cloud team to sustain and improve cloud infrastructure.


  • Help the government comply with agency and federal policies and audits.


  • Setup incident response protocols, plans, and procedures.


What We Need From You (Required)

  • A minimum of3+ years of experience in System Administration.


  • U.S. Citizenship required (NO EXCEPTIONS).


  • Experience AWS services such as EC2, S3, and RDS .


  • Strong Windows Server administration skills including PowerShell and batch files.


  • Experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux or equivalent.


  • Knowledge of DevOps practices and principles such as continuous improvement, automation, CI/CD, and " shift left " .


  • Ability to remediate security findings related to network and software configurations (i.e., TLS certificates, open ports, OS settings) .


  • Superb verbal and written communication skills. Ability to communicate with technical and non-technical audiences throughout an organization. Ability to write documentation for various audiences.


Bonus Points (Desired)

  • Familiar with Java applications and Apache Tomcat. Ability to read Java logs and troubleshoot errors.


  • Oracle RDBMS (database exports/imports, basic SQL).


  • Skilled in using the Atlassian product suite: Jira , Confluence , Bitbucket, and Bamboo.


  • Proven ability to work as a professional contractor and maintain great relationships with customers.


  • Relevant AWS and/or Microsoft certifi cations.


Work Location

Currently remote. However, hybrid ( Washington, DC ) is a possibility .

Education Level

Bachelor's degree in computer science , computer information systems, or related 4-year degree .

Clearance Level

Ability to Obtain a Public Trust; U.S. Citizenship required (NO EXCEPTIONS)

Compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range for this role in the U.S. is 100-125k .
