Design and Development: Design, implement, and optimize backend services and APIs that power TikTok's applications, ensuring scalability and reliability. 2. System Architecture: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define system architecture and ensure alignment with business goals and technical requirements. 3. Performance Optimization: Monitor and optimize the performance of backend services, addressing bottlenecks and improving efficiency. 4. Database Management: Design and maintain robust database schemas, ensuring data integrity and optimal performance. 5. Code Quality: Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code, following best practices for software development and version control. 6. Troubleshooting: Identify and resolve complex technical issues, ensuring the stability and reliability of backend systems. 7. Collaboration: Work closely with frontend developers, product managers, and other stakeholders to deliver high-quality features and enhancements. 8. Innovation and Exploration: Explore and evaluate new technologies and methodologies to improve backend systems and processes. 9. Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
Strong understanding of data structures, algorithms, and computer science fundamentals.
Proficiency in programming languages such as Java, Python, Go, or C++.
Experience with relational and/or NoSQL databases, and understanding of database design and optimization.
Familiarity with RESTful APIs and microservices architecture.
Excellent problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to identifying and addressing technical challenges.
Strong communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment. Preferred Qualifications
Experience with cloud computing platforms such as AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure.
Familiarity with containerization and orchestration tools like Docker and Kubernetes.
Knowledge of distributed systems and experience with high-scale backend systems.
Understanding of DevOps practices and tools for CI/CD, monitoring, and logging.
Contributions to open-source projects or relevant work experience through internships or co-op programs.
Strong interest in exploring and implementing new technologies to improve backend infrastructure.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities and requirements. Job Information

[For Pay Transparency]Compensation Description (Annually)

The base salary range for this position in the selected city is $116000 - $177000 annually.

Compensation may vary outside of this range depending on a number of factors, including a candidate's qualifications, skills, competencies and experience, and location. Base pay is one part of the Total Package that is provided to compensate and recognize employees for their work, and this role may be eligible for additional discretionary bonuses/incentives, and restricted stock units.

Benefits may vary depending on the nature of employment and the country work location. Employees have day one access to medical, dental, and vision insurance, a 401(k) savings plan with company match, paid parental leave, short-term and long-term disability coverage, life insurance, wellbeing benefits, among others. Employees also receive 10 paid holidays per year, 10 paid sick days per year and 17 days of Paid Personal Time (prorated upon hire with increasing accruals by tenure).
