Job Details
Role: Sr. Devops Engineer (Azure)
Location: Remote
Duration: 6 Months C2H
Key Responsibilities
- Provision, manage, and optimize Azure resources to support data engineering and analytics workloads.
- Design and manage Synapse workspaces, including dedicated SQL pools, serverless SQL pools, and data pipelines.
- Develop and maintain ETL/ELT processes using Synapse Pipelines (Azure Data Factory).
- Optimize query and workload performance through indexing, distribution strategies, and resource classes.
- Configure secure networking (VNets, NSGs, Private Link) for Synapse and data flows.
- Implement security best practices including RBAC, managed identities, encryption, and compliance with standards such as GDPR/HIPAA.
- Support CI/CD pipelines for Synapse artifacts using Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions.
- Monitor and troubleshoot Synapse environments using Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, and Application Insights.
- Collaborate with data engineering teams to ensure cost-effective, scalable, and secure cloud solutions.
- Provide guidance on migration planning, including potential integration with Azure Fabric.
Required Qualifications
- 8+ years of experience working with Azure cloud services, with at least 3+ years focused on Synapse Analytics.
- Strong expertise in:
- Azure Resource Management (portal, CLI, SDKs, Terraform).
- Azure Data Lake Storage (ADLS Gen2), Blob Storage, and hierarchical namespaces.
- Synapse pipelines, ETL orchestration, and performance tuning.
- Networking and connectivity (VNets, NSGs, Private Link).
- Security and compliance (Azure AD, RBAC, encryption).
- Experience with CI/CD using Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions.
- Hands-on troubleshooting and monitoring experience with Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, and diagnostic tools.
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of containerization and orchestration (Docker, AKS).
- Experience with cost optimization, auto-scaling, and budget management in Azure.
- Familiarity with Azure Fabric for migration planning.
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
