Location: Columbus OH (3 days onsite, 2 days remote)

The Computer Operator Sr plays a crucial role in maintaining the operational efficiency of the organization's IT infrastructure, ensuring that systems run smoothly and securely, which supports overall business continuity and productivity.

Job Description

Under limited supervision, the Computer Operator Sr is responsible for operating, monitoring, and controlling computer systems and related peripheral equipment to ensure efficient and secure operations. This role involves performing routine tasks, troubleshooting issues, maintaining system performance standards, and mentoring junior operators.

Responsibilities

1. System Monitoring: Vigilantly monitors IBM z/OS mainframe system and peripheral equipment to identify and resolve issues promptly(mainframe z/OS and distributed systems)
2. Troubleshooting: Diagnose and fix technical problems to minimize downtime and maintain productivity
3. Data Processing: Performing data processing operations according to business schedules (CTASKs/production modifications)
4. Job Scheduling & restart packages: Monitoring, repairing, restarting, and scheduling batch jobs/workflows (Rocket Zeke, Zebb, and Zena and AWS Data Late)
5. Risk Management: Implement and maintain security protocols to protect data and systems from unauthorized access (banking standards, regulations, and laws)
6. Collaboration: Working with programmers and systems analysts to coordinate production environments and resolve system issues
7. Maintenance: Perform regular maintenance tasks such as backups, updates, and hardware checks
8. User Support: Providing support to users, answering questions, and troubleshooting problems
9. Documentation: Maintain accurate records of system performance, issues, and resolutions (ServiceNow (incidents & CTASKs), Outlook, procedures (KB))

These responsibilities help ensure that computer systems run efficiently and effectively, minimizing downtime and maximizing productivity.

Technical skills

• Technical Proficiency: Proven experience in maintaining and operating and monitoring mainframe system, understanding error messages, and performing routine tasks

• Computer Operations: Familiar with day-to-day processes and procedures
• Programming/scripting languages: Aware of COBOL, Rexx, and JCL or similar
• Microsoft Office products: Familiar with Outlook, SharePoint, Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote, and Visio
• Ticketing systems: Proficient in ServiceNow or similar
• Output repositories: Familiar with SAR and AWS Data Lake or similar
• Automated scheduling and restart packages: Familiar with Zeke, Zebb, and Zena or similar
• Mainframe systems: Aware of ChangeMan and Easytrieve or similar

Interpersonal Skills

• Leadership: Familiar with supervising junior operators or leading a team

• Troubleshooting: Proficient in recognizing symptoms or errors, assessing the problem to understand its nature and impact, and applying appropriate solutions to fix the issue and restore to normal operations

Minimum qualifications

• Experience:
• Three years of satisfactory experience in computer operations

• Certifications:
• ITIL Foundation
• Microsoft 365 Fundamentals
