Work Arrangement

Onsite: This role is categorized as onsite. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to Pontiac, MI on a full-time basis.

The Role

Utilizing the GMS Tools, the Team Leader will be responsible for leading day to day operations in a specified area. In this role, the individual selected will be responsible for meeting daily task requirements relative to test execution.

As a technician, this individual will report to the Group Leader of the area assigned, working closely with the Engineers, Calibrators, and Suppliers to support the testing requirements in the Engine Dyno Test Cells.

What You'll Do (Responsibilities)

  • Champion safety for themselves and others in all aspects of the work.
  • Attend and support various meetings as required.
  • Attend a support team meeting focusing on meeting team objectives & business goals.
  • Manage the flow of day-to- day operations & testing priorities.
  • Creating an inspiring team environment with an open communication culture.
  • Conduct a wide variety of procedural and non-procedural gasoline and diesel engine dynamometer testing as needed.
  • Collect, review, and validate testing data for accuracy and quality as needed.
  • Interface with product, and testing engineers on updates to new testing procedures, equipment, and methods.
  • Work closely with Lab Engineering & Instrumentation & Equipment teams to provide information and guidance relative to test cell status and performance.
  • Applying problem solving techniques to drive continuous improvement.

Additional Job Description

Your Skills and Abilities (Required Qualifications)
  • 2-year associate degree in mechanical/engineering field, or 5+ years of equivalent experience in a related field.
  • 2+ years of firsthand experience in the implementation of Lean Tools, (GMS)
  • 3+ years of demonstrated ability to install and remove engines on a dynamometer.
  • 3+ years of experience in hooking up instrumentation and performing diagnostics.
  • 3+ years of experience in engine component installation and replacement.
  • Problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Intimate understanding of Gasoline and/or Diesel internal combustion engines.
  • Mechanical and fabrication skills.
  • Ability to train others.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Experience with PUMA, INCA, Indicom test bed software.
  • Aptitude in Microsoft applications such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, Outlook etc.
  • Ability to work off shifts.


What Will Give You a Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications)
  • 5+ years of firsthand experience in Engine Development and/or Engine Validation Testing
  • 5+ years of experience in PUMA, INCA, & Indicom Test Bed Systems.
  • 5+ years of Welding and fabrication experience
