Job Details
We re seeking a Validation Engineer in Torrance, CA. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience testing and validating high-voltage power electronics in a fast-paced engineering environment. This role involves setting up and executing environmental and electrical tests, documenting results, troubleshooting issues, and supporting continuous product improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, set up, and conduct validation tests on high-voltage power electronics systems and components.
- Execute tests for thermal, vibration, humidity, corrosion, and electrical performance.
- Collect and analyze test data, document results, and prepare detailed technical reports.
- Support root cause analysis and issue resolution for test-related failures.
- Select, install, and configure instrumentation such as accelerometers, strain gauges, thermocouples, and voltage sensors.
- Independently operate standard lab and test equipment (oscilloscopes, multimeters, power supplies, flowmeters, etc.).
- Fabricate specialized test fixtures, jigs, and harnesses to support testing and validation.
- Assist in the design and assembly of custom mechanical or electrical test setups.
- Prepare and maintain technical documentation using MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio.
- Perform additional duties as required to support validation and development efforts.
Qualifications
- Associate or bachelor s degree in electronics, mechanical engineering, or a related field (preferred).
- Minimum 3+ years of experience performing environmental validation testing.
- At least 2+ years of experience fabricating specialized test equipment or harnesses.
- Hands-on experience working with high-voltage systems and a strong understanding of safety practices.
- Familiarity with machine shop tools and equipment (preferred).
- Soldering proficiency and ability to assemble custom wiring harnesses (preferred).
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and component data sheets.
- Excellent communication, organization, and interpersonal skills.
- Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and able to thrive in a fast-paced, hands-on environment.
- Willingness to work flexible hours and occasionally travel to external testing facilities.
