Are you a skilled Salesforce Developer passionate about creating impactful solutions that serve the citizens of Utah? The Division of Technology Services is seeking a highly motivated and experienced developer to support the Utah Department of Health and Human Services, Center for Medical Cannabis and the state's medical cannabis software system that is built on a Salesforce platform. The system is public-facing and is the backbone of the medical cannabis patient card registration and medical provider registration functions. The system has over NA,000 users including medical cannabis cardholders, pharmacists, and pharmacy agents employed by medical cannabis pharmacies, medical providers, and medical office employees.
You would also be responsible to mentor and assist internal staff at the Utah Department of Health and Human Services with learning Salesforce development skills.
We wish to find the right person to manage monitoring of Salesforce software system performance, system enhancements, business analysis functions, and the establishment of common data rules and standards. You will also recommend business process enhancements to better meet customer needs and help DHHS get the best value out of its Salesforce software.

This position is currently a hybrid of both in-office (2 days a week, Tuesday and Wednesday, in office required) and 3 telework days. The office is located at the Mult-State Office Building at our Salt Lake City office (1NA N 1NA0 W). Please note, a position's eligibility for telework is established by agency management and is subject to change at their discretion at any time and for any reason
Responsibilities- Salesforce Development:
- Design, develop, test, and deploy custom Salesforce solutions.
- Configure and customize Salesforce Sales Cloud, Service Cloud, Experience Cloud, and other relevant Salesforce products.
- Develop and maintain integrations between Salesforce and other state systems using APIs, web services, and middleware.
- Implement and manage Salesforce security and access controls.
- Understand Salesforce administration.
- Technical Leadership:
- Provide technical guidance and training to developers with less experience.
- Participate in code reviews and ensure adherence to coding standards and best practices.
- Collaborate with business analysts and stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues.
- Ensure the state's medical cannabis software system meets required security standards.
- System Maintenance and Optimization:
- Perform regular system maintenance, including upgrades, patches, and performance tuning.
- Monitor system performance and identify areas for improvement.
- Document technical designs, code, and configurations. Work within an agile development environment.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in Salesforce development.
- Strong proficiency in Salesforce platform.
- Experience with Salesforce configuration and customization.
- Experience with Salesforce APIs, web services, and integration patterns.
- Knowledge of Salesforce security and access controls.
- Experience with agile development methodologies.
- Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
- Salesforce Certifications such as Platform Developer I or II are highly desirable.
- Experience with Salesforce Administration.
- Preference given for candidates with Power BI, JIRA, Omniscripts/Vlocity, Mulesoft, or Github (code repository tool).
- Employment contingent on passing a drug screening and a background check.
- Risks found in the typical office setting, which is adequately lighted, heated and ventilated, e.g., safe use of office equipment, avoiding trips and falls, observing fire regulations, etc.
- Typically, the employee may sit comfortably to perform the work; however, there may be some walking; standing; bending; carrying light items; driving an automobile, etc. Special physical demands are not required to perform the work.
