Location: Herndon, VA -
Schedule: Hybrid position, required to be in the office 2-3 days/week
The Role:
The CAD Engineer will work directly with the engineering staff using AutoCAD to create and maintain design and as-built drawings for Inside and Outside telecommunication construction projects while following established standards and procedures. The Technician will also create maps and update network records using ArcGIS.

The Main Responsibilities:
- Creates Inside Plant (floor plans and rack elevation) drawings from engineering field notes utilizing AutoCAD and Microsoft Excel (Cable Running Lists)
- Creates Outside Plant (fiber route & detail) drawings from engineering field notes utilizing AutoCAD Map, point data & aerial imagery.
- Produces and maintains ArcView Shapefiles, Google Earth .kml/.kmz files, and spatial database data for internal and Program Office use.
- Researches and collects geographic data for updating and maintaining background and base layer maps.
- Interfaces with Project Managers to ensure budgeted hours and schedules are met
Skills:
- Experience using AutoCAD 2018 or later required
- Experience using Microsoft Excel required
- Experience using ArcMap or spatialNet preferred
- Must be able to work independently, be detailed oriented and possess problem solving skills.
- BS, drafting/mapping certificate or equivalent work experience (4+ years)
