Job Title: VP of Engineering
Location: Remote (U.S. Time Zones Preferred)
Compensation: $250,000 base salary + equity
Company Stage: Series C Startup
We're looking for a VP of Engineering to lead our technical team at the forefront of machine learning innovation. This is a high-impact leadership role for someone who thrives in fast-moving environments, is deeply technical, and is excited to build systems, teams, and strategy from the ground up.
What You'll Do
Define and scale the engineering org structure, hiring plan, and career development frameworks
Own and drive technical strategy, system architecture, and long-term scalability of our ML platform
Lead by example-you'll be hands-on when needed, and always available as a mentor and technical guide
Champion engineering excellence in coding standards, model reliability, testing, and observability
Establish robust MLOps practices-from CI/CD pipelines to real-time model monitoring and governance
Collaborate cross-functionally with product, research, and business leadership to align technical decisions with company goals
Foster a high-performing, inclusive, and async-first engineering culture
Our Tech Stack
Languages: Python (LangChain, PyTorch, TensorFlow, FastAPI), TypeScript
LLM & AI Tools: LangGraph, LlamaIndex, Transformers, OpenCV, HuggingFace, scikit-learn
Infra & MLOps: AWS, Google Cloud Platform, Kubernetes, Docker, Terraform, CI/CD (GitHub Actions, Argo)
Databases: PostgreSQL, Redis, Neo4j
Monitoring & Observability: Prometheus, Grafana, Weights & Biases, Sentry
What We're Looking For
8+ years of experience in engineering, with at least 3+ years in a leadership capacity (Director/VP level)
Proven track record of building and scaling ML infrastructure and engineering teams (10+ engineers ideally)
Hands-on experience deploying ML/AI systems at scale, with strong Python and system design expertise
Familiarity with LLMs, agentic AI, RAG pipelines, and MLOps tooling
Experience in venture-backed startups or other high-growth, fast-paced environments
Excellent communication and collaboration skills across technical and non-technical team.
