Job Title: Database Administrator

Location: Remote

Job Description:

The Database Administrator will be responsible for the administration, maintenance, performance tuning, and troubleshooting of Oracle RDBMS and other supported database platforms in a complex enterprise environment. The role requires hands-on expertise in Oracle databases along with strong proficiency in additional database technologies including SQL Server, PostgreSQL, Cassandra, and NoSQL. The candidate must demonstrate advanced knowledge of both UNIX and Windows operating systems.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Install, configure, upgrade, and maintain Oracle RDBMS and other supported databases (SQL Server, Postgres, Cassandra, NoSQL).
  • Provide day-to-day incident, deployment, and performance support across on-site and remote environments.
  • Monitor and tune database performance, and conduct capacity planning.
  • Manage and resolve incidents using ServiceNow in compliance with defined SLAs.
  • Provide technical leadership in managing distributed database, middleware, and server environments.
  • Develop and implement proactive monitoring, disaster recovery strategies, and fault resolution processes.
  • Assist with development, testing, and deployment of software modifications and updates.
  • Maintain compliance with CLIENT s change and configuration management procedures.
  • Track and manage database/server inventory and deployment documentation.
  • Utilize CLIENT-approved alerting, monitoring, systems management, and backup tools.
  • Analyze and resolve hardware and software-related issues impacting database environments.
  • Generate and maintain operational and project documentation in alignment with CLIENT standards.
  • Provide escalation support and implement approved escalation procedures.
  • Deliver weekly status updates and maintain project time tracking records.
  • Facilitate knowledge transfer, documentation, and incident tracking using CLIENT ticketing systems.
  • Support system deployments and application rollouts as required.

Technical Requirements:

  • Proven expertise with Oracle RDBMS in production environments.
  • Strong experience with:
    • SQL Server
    • PostgreSQL
    • NoSQL databases (e.g., Cassandra)
  • Proficient in UNIX/Linux and Windows server administration.
  • Experience with ServiceNow or equivalent ITSM platforms.
  • Familiarity with enterprise monitoring, backup, security, and configuration management tools.
  • Experience with disaster recovery planning and execution.
  • Competency in hardware/software issue diagnosis and root cause analysis.
  • Ability to lead technical teams across database, server, and middleware layers.
