  • Test and troubleshoot MPO/MTP fiber connections:

    • Endface inspection

    • Polarity verification (Type A/B/C)

    • Continuity and insertion loss using OTDR, VFL, and power meters.

  • Identify and resolve Layer 1 connectivity issues including mismatched transceivers, bent fibers, and polarity mismatches (10G 400G).

  • Maintain accurate documentation: cable matrices, rack elevations, port assignments, and inventory.

  • Collaborate with infrastructure engineers and network teams for deployment and escalation.

  • May be expected to mentor or guide junior technicians when needed.

Required Qualifications

  • 5 10 years of experience in a data center environment with a strong focus on hands-on infrastructure support.

  • Deep understanding of fiber polarity, transmission vs. receive troubleshooting, and MPO/MTP connectivity.

  • Proven ability to resolve Layer 1 issues and communicate troubleshooting processes clearly.

  • Practical experience with:

    • Dell PowerEdge and HP Gen10 servers

    • Rack and stack operations

    • Cabling standards (TIA/EIA, ANSI)

  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work independently or in a team.

  • Ability to occasionally travel to other nearby data center locations (within DFW metro) with notice.

Preferred Skills (Nice to Have)

  • Experience with NetApp storage systems

  • Certifications related to fiber optics, networking, or server hardware (CompTIA, Cisco, etc.)
