Description
We are looking for a skilled Data Center Technician to join our team in Ashburn, Virginia. In this long-term contract role, you will play a critical part in managing infrastructure installations, ensuring smooth operations, and maintaining high service standards within our data center environment. This position provides an excellent opportunity to work on cutting-edge technologies and collaborate with diverse teams to deliver reliable IT infrastructure solutions.
Responsibilities:
Oversee the end-to-end process of infrastructure installation requests, ensuring timely and accurate completion.
Collaborate with the Infrastructure Manager to support power-related events, including building power downs and single-sided events.
Certify network connections and peripherals before transitioning them to the designated operations team.
Coordinate with internal teams, contractors, and engineering staff to meet service level agreements for all infrastructure projects.
Prepare detailed project estimates by interpreting schematics, drawings, and gathering requirements through direct communication with stakeholders.
Create and manage tickets for infrastructure tasks, ensuring proper approval, monitoring, and timely closure or cancellation.
Lead efforts in power remediation projects, including planning and execution stages.
Assist in managing rack-level capacity and oversee infrastructure monitoring to maintain optimal performance.
Organize and execute infrastructure installations, including power surveys, rack and cabling setups, and new data center build-outs.
Handle procurement and tracking of infrastructure materials, purchase orders, and stock levels to ensure availability of necessary resources.
Requirements
Minimum of 2 years of experience in a relevant role within a data center or IT infrastructure environment.
Proficiency in Network Operations Center (NOC) practices and procedures.
Hands-on experience with cable assemblies and installations, including fiber and copper cabling.
Familiarity with Microsoft and Cisco hardware systems.
Knowledge of Storage Area Networks (SAN) and related technologies.
Strong ability to interpret technical schematics and drawings for project execution.
Excellent organizational and communication skills for effective coordination with teams and contractors.
