This role requires someone who is local to the Boston area, as occasional onsite collaboration with business stakeholders and data teams is expected. Candidates are encouraged to share their Tableau portfolio or public work samples (e.g., Tableau Public) to demonstrate visualization and dashboard design capabilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with business stakeholders to gather requirements, define KPIs, and translate analytical needs into impactful visualizations.
  • Optimize Tableau dashboards for performance, scalability, and usability.
  • Develop and manage data extracts, calculations, parameters, and filters for efficient data modeling.
  • Ensure data accuracy, consistency, and quality across reporting layers.
  • Work closely with data engineers and analysts to ensure proper data flow and integration from multiple sources.
  • Implement and maintain governance standards, including permissions, data security, and publishing processes.
  • Mentor junior team members and contribute to best practices for dashboard development and data storytelling.

Required Skills & Experience:

  • 7+ years of experience in Business Intelligence or Data Visualization, with at least 5 years hands-on in Tableau Desktop and Tableau Server/Cloud.
  • Proven expertise in Tableau dashboard design, data modeling, and performance tuning.
  • Strong SQL skills and experience working with relational databases (e.g., Snowflake, Redshift, Oracle, SQL Server, etc.).
  • Experience with data blending, LOD expressions, calculated fields, and parameterization.
  • Ability to communicate analytical insights effectively to non-technical audiences.
  • Familiarity with data governance, metadata management, and version control best practices.
  • Strong problem-solving, analytical thinking, and attention to detail.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with ETL tools, Python, or data automation frameworks.
  • Exposure to cloud data platforms (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform).
  • Tableau Certification(s) (Desktop Specialist, Certified Associate, or Certified Professional).
  • Experience in the insurance or financial services domain is a plus.
