Job Details

Our client is seeking an experienced Oracle Database and Applications Administrator to join their dynamic IT team on a 6-month contract-to-hire basis. This critical role is responsible for ensuring the high availability, reliability, performance, and security of our Oracle infrastructure including Oracle RAC databases, E-Business Suite (EBS) applications, and supporting systems in a Linux environment.
Important: Candidates must reside in the San Francisco Bay Area and must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. Visa sponsorship is not available.
RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Administer Oracle 19c RAC databases and Oracle EBS (12.1/12.2) modules, including HR, Financials, and Payroll, ensuring 24/7 system availability.
  • Manage Oracle WebCenter Content and other middleware technologies.
  • Support Oracle Engineered Systems (Exadata), application servers, and Red Hat Linux environments hosting Tomcat, WebLogic, ORDS, APEX, and more.
  • Oversee database user administration, backup/recovery using RMAN and filesystem utilities.
  • Manage Data Guard standby systems and conduct cloning for QA/Dev environments.
  • Install, patch, and upgrade Oracle databases, middleware, and applications.
  • Monitor and optimize system performance for databases and applications.
  • Deploy and maintain Oracle clients and development tools across user workstations.
  • Develop scripts and utilities for automation, health monitoring, and reporting.
  • Collaborate with developers on release management and custom code integration.
  • Implement and enforce security protocols including encryption, obfuscation, and SSL.
  • Maintain detailed documentation and manage operational playbooks.
  • Coordinate maintenance activities such as patching and upgrading.
  • Assist with audits by producing compliance documentation and evidence.
  • Engage with vendors (Oracle, Red Hat, EMC, VMware, Nutanix) to resolve technical issues.
  • Provide critical support for business applications beyond the Oracle ecosystem.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 5+ years in Oracle database and applications administration.
  • Bachelor s degree in Computer Science or a related field preferred.
  • Technical Expertise:
    • Hands-on experience with Oracle 19c RAC, Exadata, and EBS (12.1/12.2).
    • Strong understanding of Oracle HR, Payroll, and Financials modules.
    • Skilled in Red Hat and Oracle Linux system administration.
    • Expertise in high-availability architectures (Data Guard, RAC, RMAN).
    • Management of large, multi-terabyte, mission-critical databases.
    • Proficiency in PL/SQL, shell scripting, and performance tuning.
    • Familiarity with multi-tenant database architecture (CDB/PDB).
  • Preferred Skills:
    • Experience with Oracle Cloud Platform.
    • Knowledge of database security, replication, encryption, and data masking.
    • Certifications in Oracle technologies and Oracle Enterprise Manager experience.
    • Experience with backup and DR solutions (EMC, CommVault) and virtualization (VMware, Nutanix).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and a commitment to thorough documentation practices.
  • Relevant technical certifications are highly desirable.


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • May be tasked with lifting, carrying, pushing or pulling up to 25 lbs., if able to do so.
  • Must be able to sit for prolonged periods of time and walk/stand for moderate periods of time.
  • Must be able to bend at the knees and waist frequently
  • Must be able to repetitively use a telephone and a computer mouse and keyboard.
