Summary

Apple's dynamic program analysis tools help millions of developers inside and outside of Apple find, fix, and prevent security and stability bugs. We are looking for a manager with a background in systems-level developer tooling to lead a team responsible for developing new dynamic bug-finding tools and rolling them out. Working with some of the best compiler, security, and operating system engineers in the world, this role will require hands-on management. It will involve developing compiler- and OS-assisted program analysis features, mentoring engineers, growing the team by hiring, and partnering with operating system and security teams to improve the security and reliability of software in the Apple ecosystem. Description

In this role your primary responsibility will be to manage and support a small team of deeply technical dynamic analysis engineers who ship tools to fix software bugs to millions of users. This team collaborates closely with operating systems engineers and security engineers to improve the security and stability of C, C++, Objective-C, and Swift codebases in Apple's platform and ecosystem. We are active contributors to the Clang/LLVM and Swift open source communities.- Lead and manage a team of innovative dynamic analysis engineers to create developer tools with millions of users- Develop and execute on a roadmap to build program analysis tools to continually improve the security of Apple's operating system software stack, including user space, kernel, and firmware environments- Work with cross-functional teams to design, plan, and deliver high-quality software features for our tools and operating systems- Strengthen the team by hiring and developing top engineering talent- Grow strong connections to the Clang/LLVM and Swift open source communities and represent Apple in open source- Develop new dynamic analysis tools and checks by driving feature planning, design, implementation and roll out strategyYou will foster collaboration with IDE and CI teams as well as teams across Apple to formulate priorities and set goals for the team. Education & Experience

B.S. in Computer Science or equivalent experience

Additional Requirements

  • Knowledge of dynamic analysis techniques (such as Sanitizers or Valgrind) or of past, current, and emerging security exploits is a plus


Pay & Benefits

  • At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $174,000.00 and $301,000.00, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
