Job Description
The Lockheed Martin Artificial Intelligence Center (LAIC) is seeking an experienced Data Platform Engineer to support the AI Factory team and product portfolio. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Kubernetes and data engineering, and will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining our data platform, including data pipelines. You will work closely with our engineering teams to ensure seamless integration of our data systems with our applications and services.
Key Responsibilities:
Design, build, and maintain our data platform, including data pipelines
Develop and implement Kubernetes-based data infrastructure, including deployment, scaling, and management of containerized applications
Administer and optimize databases, including relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL) and NoSQL databases (e.g., MongoDB)
Develop and maintain data pipelines using tools such as Apache Beam, Apache Spark, or Apache Kafka
Collaborate with engineering teams to integrate data systems with applications and services
Ensure data security, compliance, and governance, including data encryption, access control, and auditing
Monitor and optimize data platform performance, including latency, throughput, and resource utilization
Develop and maintain documentation, including architecture diagrams, technical guides, and operational runbooks

Basic Qualifications
5+ years of experience in data platform engineering, with a focus on Kubernetes and database engineering
Strong understanding of data pipelines, data storage, or database administration
Strong programming skills or software development in languages such as Python, Java, or Scala
Experience with development methodologies and version control systems such as Git
Desired skills
Experience with database administration, including relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL) and NoSQL databases (e.g., MongoDB)
Experience with monitoring and logging tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, or ELK
Experience with data science and machine learning, including data modeling, data mining, and predictive analytics
Understanding of data security, compliance, and governance, including data encryption, access control, and auditing
Familiarity with cloud-based database services (e.g., AWS RDS, Google Cloud Platform Cloud SQL).
Familiarity with logging and monitoring best practices for databases and applications.
Creative and resourceful when it comes to problem-solving

Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. Pay Rate: The annual base salary range for this position in California and New York (excluding most major metropolitan areas), Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, New Jersey, Vermont, Washington or Washington DC is $89,300 - $157,550. For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate's final work location. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer. Benefits offered: Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance, Short-Term Disability, Long-Term Disability, 401(k) match, Flexible Spending Accounts, EAP, Education Assistance, Parental Leave, Paid time off, and Holidays. (Washington state applicants only) Non-represented full-time employees: accrue at least 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO) to be used for incidental absences and other reasons; receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays.
