Job Title: Harness Design Engineer

Job Location: Sterling Heights, MI

Hourly Rate: Up to $60hr depending on experience



Job Summary:


  • Come join our team! We currently have an exciting possible Temp-to-Perm opportunity in Sterling Heights, MI for a Harness Design Engineer with Capital Harness System (CHS) experience to help design and construct Electrical Harness Designs that will be used in the next generation of Combat Vehicles.


Job Description:


  • Designing and constructing Electrical Harness Designs that will be used in the next generation of combat vehicles.

  • Designing electrical wiring harnesses to include component selection for connectors, backshells, sleeving, braiding, sealants, boots, transitions, etc.

  • Determining harness layout through vehicle and branch points for multi-branch harnesses

  • Designing environmental requirements for temperature, shock, vibration, submergence, and exposure to harsh chemicals

  • Designing harnesses in Capital Harness System (CHS) (aka Mentor Graphics) software, working specifically in Harness XC, Capital Logic and Capital Topology

  • Collaborating with CAD drafters to route harnesses in 3D CAD tools (Pro-E and/or NX)

  • Collaborating with CAD drafters to develop released drawings for harnesses, electrical installations, wiring diagrams, etc.

  • Working with systems engineers to define whole vehicle pin-level interconnect

  • Collaborating with physical architects to define harness routing channels, space claims

  • Performs other duties as assigned.


Required:


  • Minimum of 7 years of relevant post graduate work.

  • Ability to balance cost/schedule/technical priorities.

  • Occasional overtime and weekend hours may be required to complete critical tasks.

  • Experience with Capital Harness System (CHS) (aka Mentor Graphics) software, specifically in Harness XC, Capital Logic and Capital Topology is desirable.

  • Basic proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Must have strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Ability to use Engineering Development and Test Tools.

  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate with interdisciplinary teams.

  • Strong multi-tasking skills.

  • Strong record keeping skills.

  • Able to bring continuous improvement processes and methodologies to the position


Preferred:


  • Previous experience within a Military Vehicle/Ground Combat Vehicle environment is a plus.

  • Experience with Microsoft Visio is desirable.

  • Experience with Creo is desirable.

  • Experience with NX is desirable.


Education:


  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or equivalent degree is required.
