Job Description Summary
A mechanical or aerospace engineer with gas turbine experience who will direct, and contribute to, aspects of the design, development, and fleet support of GE's heavy-duty industrial gas turbine combustion systems and aeroderivative products. The role entails fast-paced, diverse engineering deliverables in both hands-on and analytical contexts, including exposure to all elements of the engineering cycle: design hand-calcs, 2-D and 3-D FEA, CFD, full temperature & full pressure testing, factory support, RCA's, and verbal & written presenting of data/conclusions. This role will have ownership of all Combustion aero-thermal aspects pertaining to F-Class Combustion Systems, HA-Class DLN2.6+ Combustion Systems, and Aeroderivative Combustion Systems.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

The Lead Professional Combustion Design Engineer will be responsible for fulfillment of orders already sold; evaluating combustor operability for new sales; and concept development, testing, and validation of new products.

Supports the design, testing, and analysis of advanced technology gas turbine combustion systems considering cost, operability, reliability, and emissions.

Designs combustion systems to meet overall gas turbine product requirements

Develops the solutions using CAD and communicates with Product Definition (Systems') Engineers Utilizes hand calculations, FEA, and test data to justify designs against acceptance criteria.

Effectively documents and presents results in formal and informal reviews

Protects the Intellectual Property rights of the Company and agrees to the overall business priorities: 1. Safety, 2. Quality, 3. Deliver, 4. Cost.

Uses engineering judgment and has ability to propose different solutions outside of set parameters but with guidance. Uses prior experience and on-the-job training to solve straightforward tasks. Has access to technical skills and analytic thinking required to solve problems. May use multiple internal sources outside of own team to arrive at decisions.

Required Qualifications

A Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or closely related engineering discipline from an accredited college or university.

Minimum 4 years of engineering experience after obtaining above degree

Desired Characteristics

A Masters' Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or closely related engineering discipline

Minimum of 4 years of experience in gas turbine design

Minimum of 3 years of experience in combustion design

Demonstrated DFSS Focus and data-based approach to problem solving

Excellent presentation & communication skills

Exceptional computer skills

The base pay range for this position is 98,400.00 - 164,000.00 USD Annual . The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate's experience, education, and skill set. This position is also eligible for a 10% bonus.
