Description: Our client is currently seeking a Database Administrator 3
Database Administrator
Contract
Hybrid(2 days onsite)
HHSC is seeking 1 Database Administrator 3 to lead migration of legacy Microsoft Access databases to modern SQL environments. The role covers planning, design, implementation, maintenance, and optimization of relational database systems.
Key responsibilities include:
Database development and administration (Access, SQL Server, cloud-native SQL platforms).
Performance tuning, optimization, and security administration.
Data modeling (logical/physical), schema refactoring, and prototyping.
Database migration (Access ? Azure SQL, PostgreSQL, or AWS RDS).
ETL pipelines (Azure Data Factory, SSIS, AWS DMS).
Creating runbooks, technical documentation, and data dictionaries.
Supporting accessibility compliance (EIR standards).
Implementing disaster recovery and high availability strategies.
Collaborating with program staff to define data needs and minimize redundancy.
Candidate Skills and Qualifications
Minimum Required Experience:
10 years: Advanced MS Access development (tables, queries, forms, reports, VBA automation).
10 years: Database schema design, normalization, ER modeling, SQL optimization.
10 years: SQL database development and migrations to cloud platforms (Azure SQL, PostgreSQL, AWS RDS).
8 years: ETL tools (SSIS, Azure Data Factory, AWS DMS).
8 years: Documentation (runbooks, data dictionaries) and conducting training/knowledge transfer.
8 years: RDBMS tools (TOAD, SSMS, SQL Developer).
8 years: Query tuning, performance monitoring, batch/integration jobs.
8 years: Successful database migration projects.
Preferred Experience:
6 years: CI/CD, GitHub, Jira.
6 years: BI/reporting tools (Power BI, Tableau).
6 years: Agile methodology.
3 years: Healthcare/public health experience.
3 years: State of Texas agency projects.
