Main Objective:
Design, develop, implement, sustain and improve manufacturing processes to produce cost effective extruded components for medical device products and systems. Provide process expertise in selection of materials and process parameters to consistently meet quality standards.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Develop processes to manufacture multifilament and monofilament components for use in medical devices.
Evaluate and implement processes with scalability and flexibility to support possible product development and growth of product families.
Design and perform experiments to understand and tailor material specifications to meet existing product standards and support development of new parts.
Integrate with Engineers, Product Development, Quality and/or Production to ensure timely and cost-effective new product development and introduction into manufacturing.
Manage cross functional projects related to process development, procurement, installation and validation, adhering to approved project plans and ensuring on time completion of milestone deliverables.
Gather comprehensive facility requirements for processes and polymer/solvent handling and generate equipment and process floorplans which meet the requirements of EHS and maintain efficient use of facility space.
Develop and execute validation plans and facilitate approval of components through the design and regulatory teams.
Estimates production cycle times and efficiencies and staffing requirements to support capacity analysis and identify opportunities to optimize process cost savings.


Education and Experience:
Bachelor s degree in Engineering, Materials Science, Chemistry, or related field required.
5 years of manufacturing process experience with thorough understanding of extrusion in theory and practice required.
Demonstrated ability to manage long term technical projects highly preferred.
Medical device manufacturing or experience working in ISO 13485/ISO 9001/GMP environment preferred.


Knowledge and Skill Requirements/Specialized Courses and/or Training:
Ability to work independently and effectively with cross functional teams.
Thorough understanding of manufacturing processes and controls.
Detail oriented with strong analytical skills.
Strong communication skills and ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical staff.
Experience with planning and conducting tests to validate equipment and processes.
Experience in completing technical documentation for engineering and manufacturing.


Machine, Tools, and/or Equipment Skills:
Fiber extrusion equipment including wet and gel spinning processes, and related textile post-processing including winding, braiding, and coating. Various textile and polymer test methods.
