Overview

As Electric Boat's work throughput increases, it has become increasingly more imperative that Electric Boat Information Technology (EBIT) works the right projects, at the right time, and within schedule and budget in order to support our growing business needs. In support of this goal, the EBIT department has established the EBIT Project Management Office (PMO) that is responsible for the management of projects across all of EBIT.

Responsibilities of the team include:

  • Project planning; which includes identifying candidate projects, categorizing projects, evaluating projects, prioritizing projects, balancing the project portfolios, selecting the projects to fund, determining funding strategy, and authorizing selected projects.
  • Establishment and guidance for portfolio, program, and project management processes and best practices for EBIT.
  • Performance monitoring of all EBIT projects which involves regular project progress updates, as well as monitoring and analysis of portfolio, program, and project metrics.

The EBIT PMO is looking for highly motivated individuals to take on leadership roles within the EBIT PMO team as we work to establish a modern IT Project Management Office. The successful candidates must be able to work well in a team setting, effectively communicate, and be willing to drive team performance.

The EBIT Portfolio/Program Lead will be responsible for:
  • Alignment of IT projects and programs with EB strategic goals and objectives, including strategic planning assessments and strategy roadmaps
  • Resource capacity planning and allocation across IT Portfolios, Programs, and Projects
  • Tracking and managing overall portfolio, program, and project budgets
  • Performance monitoring of projects within IT Portfolios and IT programs such as Design & Engineering Product Lifecycle Management (PLM), IT Facilities (Real Estate), Enterprise Resource Plan (ERP), and Cloud
  • Support Portfolio/Program planning including project in-take, prioritization, optimization, and communication to stakeholders
  • Establishing a reporting methodology with the PMO team
  • Assessing Portfolio, Program, and Project risks
  • Management of EBIT vendor performance
  • Development and analysis of PMO metrics and trends
  • Drive continuous improvement in PMO best practices
  • Stakeholder management and communication

Qualifications

Required:
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 5+ years of experience managing Portfolio or Programs

Preferred:
  • 3 or more years of related work experience managing IT Portfolios or IT Programs

Skills

  • Candidate must possess and be able to demonstrate strong interpersonal, written, and communication skills
  • Candidate must be a self-starter with the proven ability to accomplish goals independently, with minimal oversight
  • Candidate must be capable of working in a team environment and have proven ability to drive teams and meet deadlines
