Job Overview:
We are seeking a hands-on Manufacturing Engineer to support equipment and test system development for new product introduction and continuous improvement efforts. This role will collaborate across manufacturing, engineering, and R&D to design, implement, and optimize production equipment and testing systems. The ideal candidate is a problem-solver with strong mechanical and electrical acumen who thrives in a cross-functional, product-driven environment.
This position is based 100% onsite in Middleton, WI, working within a collaborative, tight-knit engineering team focused on delivering quality manufacturing solutions at scale.
Key Responsibilities:
Design and develop production test systems and manufacturing equipment (from jigs to full automation systems) using SolidWorks and LabVIEW
Collaborate with R&D, production, and test teams to ensure product designs meet manufacturing testability and quality standards
Implement test strategies and verification procedures for electronics and mechanical systems
Conduct hands-on prototyping, buildout, and debugging of custom manufacturing systems
Create clear documentation (BOMs, schematics, test plans) and maintain equipment reference materials
Conduct root cause analysis for production issues and support continuous improvement efforts
Work cross-functionally to research new tools, equipment, and materials to support product and process innovations
Participate in NPI (new product introduction) and product lifecycle transitions from engineering to production
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Manufacturing Engineering or related field
Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in manufacturing engineering or equipment development
Strong working knowledge of SolidWorks for mechanical design
Experience with LabVIEW for test automation
Familiarity with electronics manufacturing, including PCB handling and testing
Proven ability to work independently and take ownership of projects from concept to deployment
Strong cross-team communication, collaboration, and documentation skills
Preferred Skills:
Background in C++ or object-oriented programming is a plus
Experience with DOE, FMEA, FEA, or Six Sigma tools
Understanding of Lean Manufacturing or QRM principles
Familiarity with regulatory standards (UL, CE, OSHA, etc.)
Hands-on use of test tools (oscilloscopes, multimeters, mechanical gauges)
