Work Arrangement
Onsite: This role is categorized as onsite. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to Pontiac, MI on a full-time basis.
The Role
We're seeking a hands-on, detail-oriented Engineering Group Technician to support engine dynamometer testing operations. This role is critical to ensuring the successful execution of test plans and maintaining high standards of safety, quality, and efficiency. You'll work closely with engineers, calibrators, and suppliers to support testing in our Engine Dyno Test Cells.

The Role
We're seeking a hands-on, detail-oriented Engineering Group Technician to support engine dynamometer testing operations. This role is critical to ensuring the successful execution of test plans and maintaining high standards of safety, quality, and efficiency. You'll work closely with engineers, calibrators, and suppliers to support testing in our Engine Dyno Test Cells.
What You'll Do
- Lead daily operations in a designated test area using GMS (Global Manufacturing System) tools.
- Champion safety practices for yourself and your team.
- Plan, build, and execute test setups; troubleshoot mechanical/electrical issues and recommend solutions.
- Conduct gasoline and diesel engine dynamometer testing.
- Validate and analyze test data for accuracy and quality.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to update testing procedures and equipment.
- Communicate test cell performance and status to Lab Engineering and Instrumentation teams.
- Apply problem-solving techniques to drive continuous improvement.
- Support team meetings and contribute to achieving business goals.
- Foster a collaborative and communicative team environment.
Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)
- Associate degree in mechanical/engineering field or 5+ years of relevant experience.
- 2+ years of experience applying Lean/GMS tools.
- 3+ years of experience with engine installation/removal on dynamometers.
- 3+ years of experience with instrumentation setup and diagnostics.
- Strong understanding of gasoline and/or diesel internal combustion engines.
- Mechanical and fabrication skills.
- Ability to train others and communicate effectively.
- Experience with PUMA, INCA, Indicom test bed software.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, Outlook).
- Willingness to work off-shifts as needed.
What Will Give you a Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications)
- 5+ years in engine development or validation testing.
- Advanced experience with PUMA, INCA, and Indicom systems.
- Welding and fabrication expertise.
