Job Title: Data Center Facility Operations Specialist

Location: Canton, MS

Contract: 6 Months (possible extension)

Position Summary

Amazon is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Data Center Facility Operations Specialist to oversee the engineering operations of our mission-critical data center infrastructure. This role is responsible for ensuring optimal performance, safety, and reliability of all mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems, while managing a team of technicians and coordinating with vendors.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage on-site shift technicians, senior technicians, subcontractors, and vendors.
• Ensure all work complies with established operational procedures and safety standards.
• Monitor and maintain critical systems including:
• Switchgear, generators, UPS systems, power distribution equipment, chillers, cooling towers, CRAC units
• Building Management Systems (BMS), Electrical Power Monitoring Systems (EPMS), and Human Machine Interfaces (HMI)
• Serve as the primary escalation point for all MEP-related issues.
• Conduct routine and emergency maintenance on electrical, mechanical, and fire/life safety systems.
• Establish performance benchmarks and generate reports on facility operations.
• Manage capacity planning and coordinate projects to improve efficiency and reliability.
• Respond to service tickets based on priority and customer impact.
• Assist in the design and build-out of new facilities and infrastructure upgrades.
• Oversee asset and inventory management.
• Support recruiting efforts and contribute to team development.
• Deliver high-quality service and ensure customer satisfaction.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree or Technical Degree (Military/Trade School) in a relevant field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in facility operations or engineering.
• Minimum of 5 years of management experience.
• Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
• High attention to detail and ability to prioritize in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Electrical and/or HVAC trade certifications.
• 5+ years of experience in mission-critical environments (e.g., data centers, hospitals, military, public safety).
• Working knowledge of network design and low-voltage cabling (copper/fiber).
