Job Title: Data Center Facility Operations Specialist
Location: Canton, MS
Contract: 6 Months (possible extension)
Position Summary
Amazon is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Data Center Facility Operations Specialist to oversee the engineering operations of our mission-critical data center infrastructure. This role is responsible for ensuring optimal performance, safety, and reliability of all mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems, while managing a team of technicians and coordinating with vendors.

Position Summary
Amazon is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Data Center Facility Operations Specialist to oversee the engineering operations of our mission-critical data center infrastructure. This role is responsible for ensuring optimal performance, safety, and reliability of all mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems, while managing a team of technicians and coordinating with vendors.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage on-site shift technicians, senior technicians, subcontractors, and vendors.
- Ensure all work complies with established operational procedures and safety standards.
- Monitor and maintain critical systems including:
- Switchgear, generators, UPS systems, power distribution equipment, chillers, cooling towers, CRAC units
- Building Management Systems (BMS), Electrical Power Monitoring Systems (EPMS), and Human Machine Interfaces (HMI)
- Serve as the primary escalation point for all MEP-related issues.
- Conduct routine and emergency maintenance on electrical, mechanical, and fire/life safety systems.
- Establish performance benchmarks and generate reports on facility operations.
- Manage capacity planning and coordinate projects to improve efficiency and reliability.
- Respond to service tickets based on priority and customer impact.
- Assist in the design and build-out of new facilities and infrastructure upgrades.
- Oversee asset and inventory management.
- Support recruiting efforts and contribute to team development.
- Deliver high-quality service and ensure customer satisfaction.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree or Technical Degree (Military/Trade School) in a relevant field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in facility operations or engineering.
- Minimum of 5 years of management experience.
- Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
- High attention to detail and ability to prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Electrical and/or HVAC trade certifications.
- 5+ years of experience in mission-critical environments (e.g., data centers, hospitals, military, public safety).
- Working knowledge of network design and low-voltage cabling (copper/fiber).
