Job Title: Data Analyst
Location: Boston, MA
Duration: 8 Months (Tentative)
Responsibilities
Lead data analysis and reporting for homelessness and homelessness prevention programs and initiatives.
Conduct population-level analyses using a Homelessness Management Information System (HMIS) to build knowledge on homelessness trends.
Design, build, and maintain analytical dashboards to support management, oversight, and evaluation of funded homelessness initiatives.
Maintain and enhance analytical tools related to eviction monitoring and prevention.
Develop stand-alone reports, dashboards, presentations, and written summaries that deliver actionable insights to internal and external stakeholders.
Respond to ad-hoc data and information requests from leadership, media, and other key stakeholders.
Participate in working groups focused on data quality, HMIS, performance monitoring, and related topics.
Collaborate with outside organizations on data analysis projects involving integrated data sharing agreements or shared research goals.
Perform related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in public policy, economics, statistics, urban planning, social work, computer science, or related field (Master s degree preferred but not required). Relevant certifications may substitute for formal education.
At least 2 years of professional experience in data analysis, research, program evaluation, or related work. (A master s degree may substitute for one year of required experience.)
Demonstrated experience working with large datasets (cleaning, transforming, analyzing, summarizing).
Familiarity with SQL and ability to write queries to extract, filter, join, and summarize data from relational databases.
Experience developing reports, dashboards, or data visualizations using tools such as Apache Superset, Power BI, Tableau, R Shiny, or similar platforms.
Experience with programming languages such as R, Python, or Stata is preferred but not required.
Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present complex data clearly to non-technical audiences.
Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines, work independently, and collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
