Job Title: Information Systems Architect Advanced
Duration: 12 Months
Location: Remote

Scope of the Project

This role focuses on the design and development of a CUI VDI environment, Windows systems and images, technical/engineering support, and one-on-one training for identified System Administrators. The architect will play a key role in building and supporting enterprise-level Citrix environments.

Daily Duties / Responsibilities

A mid-to-senior-level Citrix VDI Architect will be responsible for providing Tier 2 and Tier 3 technical support for the Citrix/XenApps server environment.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Analyzing and evaluating system project requirements of considerable complexity.

  • Reviewing user requirements and identifying problems with potential solutions.

  • Providing analytical support in the conceptualization, development, and implementation of interlinked systems.

  • Defining system objectives and preparing system design specifications to meet requirements and resolve interface challenges.

  • Troubleshooting systems in critical environments using structured problem-solving and tools to identify root cause, create action plans, and resolve issues.

  • Using and explaining Citrix command line commands.

  • Providing Tier 1 Tier 4 support daily and writing SOPs.

Responsibilities

  • Provide Tier 2 and Tier 3 support for the Citrix/XenApps environment.

  • Monitor the VDI platform using tools such as Netscaler and ControlUP.

  • Support end-user VDI sessions and the full VDI stack.

  • Handle VDI-related requests and inquiries.

  • Ensure Citrix platform server systems are kept up to date with patches.

  • Manage XenDesktop Broker, VDI monitoring, and alerting support of Citrix/VMware applications.

  • Deliver high levels of client satisfaction for supported products/solutions.

  • Act as the technical SME for VDI and Citrix.

  • Participate in meetings to provide updates to the team.

  • Deploy and support Microsoft services including AD, ADFS, DNS, DHCP, WSUS, and Group Policy.

  • Train team members one-on-one to strengthen expertise across the group.

Required Skills (Ranked by Importance)

  • 5+ years of technical experience with Citrix administration (including XenServer in production).

  • 5+ years of Microsoft Windows Server and Infrastructure experience (AD, DNS, DHCP, ADFS, WSUS).

  • 5+ years of Design and Architecture experience.

  • 5+ years of Tier 1 Tier 4 support.

  • Proven experience with Citrix/XenApps, VMware Administration, Windows Servers, Citrix App Layering.

  • Strong knowledge of Citrix command line commands and Citrix Ports.

  • Excellent communication skills (oral and written).

  • Experience in team member training.

  • Flexible, self-motivated, and adaptable with strong problem-solving skills.

Required Education

  • Bachelor s degree in Computer Science or related field.

  • 5+ years of professional experience supporting large-scale enterprise Windows environments and Citrix VDI.

Preferred Skills

  • Citrix Administration Certification.

  • Self-starter with ability to address/resolve ambiguity and conflict within complex VDI environments.

  • Ability to develop update processes and maintain currency in VDI environments.

  • Strong presentation and communication skills with both small and large groups.

  • Proven ability to troubleshoot systems in critical environments, identify root cause, and execute structured action plans.

  • Experience planning and executing large, complex infrastructure implementations.
